Opening the 2013-14 Prediction Contest

URI opens its 110th season on November 8 in a game versus Maine, so it is now time to launch the Sixth Annual Prediction Contest.

PRIZE

$100 gift certificate to Mews Tavern.

PREDICTION COMPONENTS:

Each participant will make a prediction composed of five parts.

1. Regular Season Record (based on 31 games)
2. A-10 Conference Record (based on 16 games)
3. Team Scoring Average, ppg (to one decimal, based on 31 games)
4. Top Scorer & Average, ppg (to one decimal, based on 31 games)
5. Average Home Attendance, regular season only (14 games - 8 conference, 6 OOC)

If two posters submit identical bids in all five parts, the time of submit will determine which one becomes official and the second poster will be asked to modify prediction and re-submit.

This contest is based on predicting the overall regular season record so the other four components of bet are essentially tiebreakers and will be used to determine winner according to the above sequence.

A suggested bet format:

BONUS PRIZE

A bonus prize of a $50 gift certificate to Mews Tavern will be awarded to the participant who comes closest to predicting the season‘s average home attendance. This prediction will be based on regular season games and will NOT INCLUDE any NIT Season Tip-Off games if they were to be held at the Ryan Center. Also, no post season games at Ryan are to be included. Posters making an identical predictions in this category will be asked to re-submit according to time of original submit.

DEADLINE

The deadline for submitting a prediction is Thursday, November 7, Midnight. This timing will give participants the opportunity to see the Rams in an exhibition game versus Southern Connecticut U.

OTHER CONDITIONS

• This thread is home where all predictions must be submitted.
• In the event of ties, the prizes will be shared.
• The contest is only open to bona fide URI fans and qualified participants must have been registered on this forum before September 1, 2013.

Wish I knew more about what's going on with Hare, but I don't think the exhibition game will make much difference in my assessment:

This contest is interesting .... fairly narrow range, so far, of 18-23 wins for a roster with a huge makeover. Last year the predictions were all over the place.

Would I be correct in assuming that one can change their prediction up until midnight Thursday or is what we submit now final? It could get quite confusing if multiple cnahges are submitted - not that it has ever happened but just looking ahead. I for sure want to see tonight's game first, especially with hare out which changes things quite a bit in my mind.

Well that's a bummer, I stupidly made my picks before tonight's scrimmage on purpose. Knowing Hare is out and being able to watch the team play certainly gives an advantage to those who waited.

Sorry we can't make changes to match every adversity - Hare is gone, Biruta is injured and so on. We have to go with what we got. The season has a long way to go and we have a team that is in the making, so keep the faith and good luck to you.
