I said a lot of this at the time he committed. If you went down to FSU on an official visit and saw how they treated athletes, the women, the facilities, the parties, the weather....I could see how that could be appealing to a kid at first blush. But it is strange to me that a New England kid would be sold on that as a four-year decision once the initial buzz of it wears off. Culturally I wouldn't last more than a weekend down there. I wish Terrance the best, but I hope he understands what he is getting himself into.

FSU received a comittment from 6'4 juco guard Benji Bell today. Seems strange that they're continuing to recruit 2G/SF players.

That makes more sense. The juco report that I read had him listed as a 2G, and I couldn't understand why FSU would still be recruiting 2G and SF

Benji Bell, a standout 6-4 JUCO point guard, committed to Florida State at the end of his visit this weekend.

Bell was a 3* recruit in high school, but wasn't scouted much due to the fact that he bounced around through three different high schools and then a prep school. He ended up in Junior College, where he was recently named the Panhandle Player of the Year. He also led his team to the JUCO national title.

He averaged 17.4 points and 5.3 assists per game.

Wow! FSU signed a panhandler ?
This guy is probably a total academic train wreck.
I wish Terance hadn't decided so soon.
FSU has really over-recruited his position.

Same JC as our law abiding friend from PC Brandon Austin who averaged 15.8 ppg as they played alongside one another

Highlight for Bell is that he shot 44.5% on 3FGs

Don't all guards 6'4" and over consider themselves PG's these days.....I think all FSU's recruits at guard feel this way......there are only so many minutes to give out....

This still throws me off. The education is average. The playing time offered couldn't be more contested. The coach doesn't have a history of developing guards.

Since their high water mark with the Air Force veteran in the post the team has and seems destined to be the 7-8th team+ in the ACC.

It is also across the country.

As has been said, think back. When you went to college, did you want your mother to be close by?

He's been away at prep school. Maybe he's want to
stay closer to home?
Either him or his brother, were at the Iona game with mom and
grandma.
Very nice and charming ladies, by the way.

Thats 4 guys listed as SG's in the recruiting class alone. Not including Mayes and the other SG from last years class, which IDK if they transferred but thats 2.

According to ESPN.com
2015: 4sgs
2014: 2 sgs
Star player? 1 sg Xavier R-Mayes

Rathan-Mayes can fill it up and the (Dwayne) Bacon should be sizzling in Tallahassee next year but both will likely be off to the NBA after next year which opens up time for Mann.

In any case, Mann to URI is dead.

Hey Bress, it seems Mann is considered to be just one of the "others" at FSU.
Several ACC coaches believe Florida State has the league's best overall roster. Noles bring back 6 of top 7. Add Bacon, Beasley, & others.

He committed, and that's that. Let's concentrate on our commits and kids we are recruiting, and not someone who is committed elsewhere/has been committed for a while.

15, agree. We have 3 openings for 2017 as of right now.

Will be interesting to see what positions the staff will concentrate on filling. Still, a long way off, but work is being done already to build relationships with recruits, of course.

Recruiting never stops, who said that, Hurley?

Guy's already visiting '17s...less than a week after completing probably the best class (in terms of talent/number of players) URI has ever had - with a remarkable little bit of fan fare considering. It's crazy what a culture change does to expectations in a few short seasons.

I think there was plenty of fan fare on this board about the recruits, but most fans of any program are casual fans. Stuff like recruiting classes (or if you look at pro sports, the strength of the farm system) is typically more for the diehards.

Wonder if Mann will stick at FSU being stuck behind people on a middle ACC team.

hypothetically speaking..

if he transferred to URI then I assume no scholarship because of his mom ?

also, does this mean he wouldn't have to sit out a year ?

From what I remember of the Billy Baron situation, considering no hardship waivers are allowed anymore, he would have to sit a year but wouldn't need a scholarship.

What's is going on with his brother Martin? At one time I had heard he has much potential as Terance, if not more. Last I heard he was at Lawrence Academy has a 2018. How good has he turned out, and does Rhody have interest in him?

Don't think he's an A-10 player.

What a game Mann had last night as LA Clippers took the series from Utah.

Mann, who was the 48th pick in the 2019 draft, had only 25 total points in the first five games of this series and recorded his 11th start of the season and his second consecutive start with Leonard sidelined with a knee injury. It was a perfect time to make history.

He had 39 points in the victory in 36 minutes
15-21 FG
7-10 3PFG
2-2 FT
Zero Turnovers

Son of former URI Women’s Basketball Team Head Coach.
