Right, but the point is that over time the bloom will come off the rose for teams like Georgetown and St John's. Right now there are some Big East teams still trading off their name recognition, but a mid major program will get mid major recruits. Water finds its level, and the only place where the new big east is on the same level as the major conferences are in some fans minds (and apparently a few recruits, but we'll see how long that lasts).

Let's see how that looks next season. Many of those recruits were wooed by the previous composition and stature of the Big East.

I think TP hit the nail on the head. And RJ, you are mostly right in your assessment of the two conferences as of right now. But what remains to be seen is how the new conference evolves over time. It is a very real possibility that they regress to more of a mid-major over time without having the rest of the Big East around to help. Time will tell.

The new big east, without BCS football, is already a mid-major, albeit the best mid-major conference.....and the gap between the current A-10 and the new big east is not as great as the gap between the old A-10 and the old big east....

....if the money from television holds out for the new big east then they will continue to poach the best A-10 schools.....they get 10 times what the A-10 gets.....and the A-10 gets around 6 times as much as the next tier of mid-majors...so we will continue to poach those conferences....

.....if Fox's Sports TV venture fails then it will lessen the gap between new A-10 and new big east....time will tell
