Atlantic 10 2013 Baseball Championships - URI playing well

Rhody has won 7 of the last 8 games with today's 2nd straight win over St Joe's.
URI now 16-7 in 3rd place in the A10 standings behind St Louis and Charlotte who are playing each other in the final series of the season.
URI has a 33-22 overall record.
Last game of regular season is at St Joe's on Saturday - then the A10 Championships next week in Charlotte, NC.
Rhody playing their best baseball of the season going into the Tournament.

Thanks for the update, Ramster. With SLU and Charlotte playing each other, is there any chance for URI to move up a spot this weekend? Or are we liked into the #3 spot at this point?

SLU and URI are 1 game back of Charlotte right now if URI and SLU win tomorrow they would all be tied. I have no idea who would get first, second and third

We finished with the 3 seed because of the tie breaker. The team faces Lasalle first round.

Interesting development, the Rams finished in a tie for first with Charlotte and St. Louis based on SLU win over Charlotte in final game. Based on tiebreaker, URI gets the third seed and no first round bye. If Charlotte had won the SLU game, the Rams would have finished in second, but would have gotten the #2 seed and a bye. Case of being co-champion with a drawback.
URI had a good shot at being sole champion, but the two losses at home to Dayton, a team that won only 3 three conference games all year, was the differential.
Now let's beat La Salle On Wednesday. Game time 5 PM.

7 teams make the post season in baseball so only the 1 seed gets a bye
the 2 losses to dayton really hurt

Congrats on another great baseball season. One would assume if you looked up the word "consistency" it might say, "see the Uri baseball team. We have not played LaSalle this year - should be interesting. Go Rams!

We were discussing the baseball game as it was underway during tonight's party at Rhody Joe's. So glad they broke the game open and held on to win.

Charlotte at 1:30 today [Thursday].
I was wondering if it could be a slight advantage in that we did not play many of the seeded teams during the reegular season?
In as much as that our hitting is not up there with many of the top conference teams, is it an advantage that they had not seen our pitchers? Definitely the strength of the team.

Yes 5-2. Rhody made 5 errors leading to 4 unearned Niners runs. Sloppy game.

Rhody just lost in the bottom of the 9th 5-4. They had the lead 4-3 and gave up 2 runs. Good season.

URI baseball is becoming just like URI men's basketblal of last last deacde (the Baron years). It is usually decent but not just not good enough.
