Rams 2013-2014 Schedule

Unread post by Rhody4324 »

Does anyone have any idea what next year's non-conference schedule looks like? Was Auburn a home-and-home or a buy game? PC game will be here, but what's up with Saint Mary's?

Auburn was a buy game. Sucks for them that they had to pay us and also lose.

This is what I think we have below. Quite a bit to fill in.

HOME
Providence
St Mary's

AWAY
Brown
SMU
George Mason

I heard St Mary's was a buy too, but I'm not 100% on that.

I am not 100% certain on St. Mary's. My assumption is that they cannot really afford many buy games given their tiny gym. The Gaels hosted URI, Yale, and Harvard last year having played none of them in 2011-12. My guess is that they play a combination of the three back here in a single trip next year.

St. Mary's was a buy game. I remember Thorr saying because we had two buy games last season one would go to Hurley and the other would go to help pay for the Italy trip. Looking at the schedule the two games had to be Auburn and St. Mary's.

They'll probably play a non-conference game like Butler and Xavier did in the marathon in November to play out the contract.

I'd love to see them continue games with Temple and Xavier. They should try to work that out so we play each other 1 for 1 at least every other year.

Probably a non-conference game for URI and Mason.

West Virginia played Oklahoma three times, first as an OOC, then twice in conference.

Had they met in the Big Twelve tournament, OU could have beat the 'Neers four times in one season.

I doubt that Temple and Xavier would enter into long term home and home scheduling with URI. There is no benefit for them as Xavier will be coming to RI regularly to play Providence and Temple will be playing nearby UConn.

I know it's closer, but BC has played both Providence and URI in the same year several times in recent seasons after BC went to the ACC. I'm not saying every year, but every other year could be doable.

They would probably just drop the remaining game of the 2 for 1 (URI would lose a buy game), Butler and X played because the game was scheduled to be part of the tip off marathon on ESPN and neither team wanted to give up an ESPN and ESPN didn't want to lose that game

The buy game was the 1st in the series. So they would have to pay that money back.

Doubt we'd ever see a Buffalo/URI Bobby/Dan matchup. Didn't their family make some sort of agreement to not coach against each other while Dan was at St. Benedict's and could've gone up against his dad?

No, St. Anthony and St. Benedict's never played when Dan was coaching. St. Benedict's is not a full member of the NJSIAA, which means they're not eligible to play in the state tournament. It's why they play a national schedule and function differently than most high school programs.

At least we know Bobby still has the head coach's number if he needs to forward along any of those inquiries. Cool to see Preston just added something yesterday for a home and home.

It is amazing that in 2013, that is how college basketball schedules are made. It isn't a very sharp looking page, and I'm surprised that it is visible to the general public. Glad it is, though. Kind of a cool thing to look at.

Or they could do with Xavier and Butler did this year.... play and call it a non conference game. I'd rather do that than have one less game on the schedule.

I like that they're going for as many full-speed game situations as possible for their new group to ensure they're ready once the regular season begins. No slow starts this year.
That was for this past season if you look at the date.

Why would the BE ever do that? They would be a favorite in nearly every single game, so there would be no real advantage for the BE to do that.

The fact that Preston is the one listed for the schedule contact person may be saying something. I believe that Bobby was the coach that was listed last year once the Hurleys came on board.

So we don't have much to speak of at this point for OOC games. This is probably good news and bad news for Dan Hurley. We know he wants enough winnable games to start the season and give his team that winning feeling. He's also stated he wants quality home-and-homes to be ensure strong home and away games every season to challenge his team.

RJ, a bit of an overstatement dont you think? I guess the superiority complex went along with you to the mid major Big East. Did you forget that all your no brainer powerhouse programs are gone. The gem program of your new league (Gtown) lost to a school that was in a trailer a few years ago. Why would any of the BCS conferences want to match up with the likes of Depaul, Seton Hall, Providence, St Johns and Xavier. Not exactly a murderers row. You are closer to what we will be than what those conferences are....you are like the richest kid in the projects. Congrats, but chest thumping not necessary.
