To UMassHoops15: On parking at Ryan, use the North side of building. The lot directly in front of North Lobby is reserved for officials and fat cats, so plan on parking in the very large lot diagonally northwest from that Lobby. Leaving that lot after even a well attended is usually painless as long as you plan your route of departure. Compared to north side of Mullins, it is cake walk.

The game is 4 PM affair so if you plan to eat, understand that unlike Mullins there are no close-by places. Wakefield which serves as URI's town center is actually some 3-4 miles south of the campus. Route 108 takes you into Wakefield from the campus. Fat Belly's and the Mews tavern are on the Main Street and both have great array of beers and pub food. If you want a good pizza, I recommend Mezzo which is located on Old Tower Hill Road. This is actually the same street as Main Street, but outside the center in a easterly direction. Around the corner from Mezzo on Route 108 is Rhody Joe's another pub type restaurant. More up scale dining is also available, so let us know your interests.

Easier to find on Route 2 heading North, is The Homestead.
Good food, cozy atmosphere, with a fireplace in the winter.
There's also a bar in there.

Mason did the parachute drop vs UMass last night!

Probably returning for some A10 games where there are more people in the house.

Has there been any promo schedule released? Pink Out? White Out? Blue Out? Pass Out (of bounds)?

The retired jersey thread reminded me of a major gripe I've had with the Ryan Center experience. How do we not have a bunch of video packages that highlight our best players, teams, and moments? You could play these montages before the games and during timeouts when you're not running other promotions. I know our previous entrance video had a lot of quickly spliced together segments, but I'm thinking almost more like mini-documentaries that highlight specific things. You could also make videos for certain opponents. UMass is in the Ryan Center? Have a video that highlights the best moments in our rivalry but with a heavy Rhode Island bias. You're telling me a URI-Kansas video wouldn't get the crowd jacked up during a timeout at the end of the game when we need to get loud?

That was great to relive the past. These last 15 years of futility have made me mostly forget we once were pretty good. Nice to be reminded every now and then with clips of the past since our program no longer gives us anything current to be excited about.

The next home game is Saturday against Dayton and Xavier Cochran will be there on a visit. Step 1. Run a promotion where students get free food so you get the most amount of students possible to attend and create a great environment. Step 2. Run a pregame video showing highlights from last year's victory against Dayton to get the crowd pumped. Step 3. During an in game timeout show a video package highlighting Preston Murphy's URI career. This will show Cochran the kind of player Preston was and the kind of success URI can have. Step 4. Win the game. Step 5. Get the commitment. Step 6. Profit.

In regards to the Preston video package, I really love what the Red Sox do. They have a former player at every game and during a mid inning break they run a video package of that player. After the video, they show that player in one of the luxury suites. I'd love URI to do something similar. I think it's great for former players to see that fans still remember them fondly, it's great for the program to have and keep former players close to the team, and it's great for the fans to have a chance to remember the great teams and players from our past.

For the second half of the GM game RAM1019 and I moved down to the front row of 111. During the Dr Who cheer, the ramettes, save for a couple, were all mouthing "Go Rams" rather than actually cheering. Why would the fans get into the cheers if the "Spirit Squad" doesn't?

I enjoyed watching those clips. Amazing how the coach who took them
to the Elite 8 and A-10 Championship isn't shown at all.
I'd like to see all of them combined, minus Sgt. Slaughter, who lead his team to
nothing special.

The Ryan Center was running a promotion yesterday where the first 500 students would get entry into a VIP presale for an upcoming show. Could explain why some students left early, they might not have cared about the game in the first place.

The Greeks did the same thing last year. I don't remember the game. They had an entire section in the 200s behind one of the baskets. After halftime, the section was empty. They come for their free stuff, hang around for a while, then leave? That pisses me off. That's how you are supporting your basketball program? If you don't care about basketball, fine. But stay home and leave the free stuff for the students who care.

4. Can you imagine this team with an established point guard? At least a couple more W's
5. Dan rarely subbed. I liked how he would get X or EC out around the 12 minute mark knowing there was a TV timeout to give them a couple of minutes more rest.
6. Good student turnout - although for some reason many left at halftime.
7.TJ all hustle - quickly getting back on a Dayton breakaway to know the ball out of the dribblers hands.
8. Bench into the game.
9. How can refs let the players play in the first half and then blow a whistle every 30 seconds in the second?
10. Is Mike ready?
11.Will he have a two game a-10 conference winning streak by next Sunday?
12. Sad note - during the second half of the game by cell phone was taken from the empty seat next to me. Three Ram fans stayed with me after the game searching with no luck. With the help of Ryan security I stayed an hour afterwards combing the area. (I never left my seat until halftime and saw it next to me during the second half). I thought we were one big Ram family. I guess there is someone in 205 that doesn't get that concept.
13. Go Rhody!

As some might remember, I was never a fan of the mob. However, as much as I like Ruckus, it needs a little bit of direction. Whether its the guy with the mic who does all the stuff with the t-shirts or a few student reps, someone should be continuously encouraging students to stand and cheer. For UMASS, I want a huge crowd which I think we will get and I want Ruckus standing and yelling the entire time.

Same here. My VW already has horrible AM reception so nothing but crackles.

Thankfull there's the iHeart Radio app on my phone to stream the show live. Also allows me to listen as I walk to and from my car in the lot.

Trust me that Athletics is well aware of the fans' preference for a strong FM station.

Weeknight games are fine since 101.5FM is strong, but weekend games on 920AM is a horrible experience and not befitting of a program looking to be first class in all respects.

When EZ Buckets isn't on the floor with his mic, he's working with the students to get them to behave like a real f'ing student section. As I mentioned, last night wasn't going to work because the Greeks could have given two shits about the game.

UMass should be different. Pray they stay ranked! Can we end out streak of futility vs top 25 teams??

EZ buckets needs someone else to help him get the students involved. If there are people in both sections as leaders then the chants will be more unified. Greeks got made fun of for going to the game and not cheering on URI confessions. The Umass game will be packed like the PC game.

Yes I agree. He can't do it alone. Maybe you can appoint some students who are outgoing with school pride that can help him get the student section going.
