Student Section to be Renamed "Rhody Ruckus"

I hate the sanitation. Fanatical Fans?! jk

I like a bar supporting them --> Rhody mist, Charlie's Rams,

I cant think, if welker signs with Denver I will be down and out.

I know the school would hate this but some of the bars DTL should organize some pre-game happy hours with some buses to and from the game. I know a major deterrent for a lot of the Gansett crew is physically having to drive to the games.

As a student, I like the name "Rams Den". I'm going to be trying to think of some on my own. Student section definitely needs a name change.

Per Rod above, Athletics would like to avoid any names directly related to the coach, such as Hurley's Hurd.

The name should either integrate, Kingston, Keaney, Rams, or the Ryan Center.

I would think we would want a title for our student fans that shows we mean business...that we are a force to be reckoned with...that makes an opposing player get a bad feeling every time they think about having to face it.
No offense meant to anyone coming up with names, but stuff like "herd", etc...doesn't exactly strike fear into the heart of an opponent if you know what I mean.
It's like when teams go to play Duke and they encounter the "Cameron Crazies". Duke is not only known for their team but for their fans. When ESPN talks about our team and then talks about our fans, I'm not sure we want something bland, soft, or cuddly...
Although I would find it hilarious if our fans were called the "Furry Fanatics"..."Fear the wool!"....hahahaha.
I think I would die laughing then start to cry after realizing half the nation just heard it.

I kinda like Kingston Krazies.
A little off subject, but seeing all these slogans reminds me of a game we had at the Civic Ctr. many years ago. We were playing South Carolina on channel 10. The cameras spanned the crowd and focussed on a sign that we got in a bit of trouble for displaying. Anyone remember what it said? A hint- SC is the Gamecocks.

Don't like Kingston Krazies, I think someone previously suggested Ryan Rowdies. That has my vote, although lets be honest the folks that work security there want the environment to be more like a library than a rowdy college basketball game.

Athletics and the Global Spectrum team have been working together since last season ended to develop a plan that will improve gameday atmosphere at the Ryan Center. I am very confident we won't be reminded of a library next season and years to come.

Getting a name like the Kingston Krazies or Ryan Rowdies is great and all, but, there had better be much greater student participation than some of the games the past couple of years. Having 12 Kingston Krazies in the crowd would be a little embarrassing.

The issue with the phones at games is that people are texting their friends who are not at the game. I know it won't ever go away completely, but with the increased winning, more of those friends will begin to attend the games themselves as they will be a fun social event. The digital attachment is definitely a trend that I don't ever see going away, and even though I am only 25 and grew up in the middle of it, it makes me sad.

There is no doubt that the digital attachment is very real and not going anywhere at all, but there are plenty of successful programs around the country who have no problem keeping a packed house of rowdy and engaged fans. Key word there is SUCCESSFUL. We'll get there...

Excellent! I love the the athletic department has taken the feedback from fans and are looking to improve every aspect of the progran.

Living in San Diego for the past 9 years, I present San Diego State as an example...5-6 years ago, the student section was sub par at best. Then they started winning and now you have this...

State school, similar conference, larger arena but not a crazy difference. When you factor in enrollment numbers they scale to be pretty equal with us.

This is what winning can do for a student section/arena atmosphere.

Ryan Center could easily look like that very soon. I think students will come and gamedays/nights will be events that they plan to attend.

It should probably be noted that they stole that from Utah State, who I am sure stole it from someone else. But SDSU has made it their own at this point, and thats probably all that really matters.

I am looking forward to betters days ahead with the student section. It happened a couple times last year where, directly behind a sign that read "the sixth man," stood exactly six men with no one else in the section.

No doubt that will soon be a thing of the past.

They should go visit The Fort at a Revs match. Those guys could give them a few pointers. That section stays jacked for 90 minutes of a soccer match. Just imagine what they could do with an exciting basketball game.
