Re: A10 OOC MTE Tournaments 2024
The only good tournaments URI seems to get into more recently seem to be restricted to when it plays at Mohegan Sun. Unfortunately that can only happen every four years. Given we are coming off four straight losing seasons and do not travel well outside this area, we are not really a desirable team for tournaments.

Time for the Quahog Cup; URI, Bryant, Brown, and another from the region, hosted by URI.RF1 wrote: ↑4 weeks ago The only good tournaments URI seems to get into more recently only seem to be when it plays at Mohegan Sun. Re: A10 OOC MTE Tournaments 2024
Makes sense. If you can’t get any party invites then have your own party.
How about Rhody, two other New England schools (rotate NE schools) and one outside the region ?
First one could be say, Rhody, Vermont, Northeastern and a lower mid-level P6 team ?
The P6 team likely wouldn’t want to come to the Ryan Center so, we would have to find another local venue.

Even if we don’t get big time tournaments at least we’ll play 1/2 P5 teams OOC in the lower tier MTEs.

Maybe, some of us here, and others desire URI to be a significant player in the deep end. It is apparent to me URI is longer in that level. Generate some local/regional interest is the mid pool depth.Rhody15 wrote: ↑4 weeks agoAbsolutely not.section(105) wrote: ↑4 weeks agoTime for the Quahog Cup; URI, Bryant, Brown, and another from the region, hosted by URI.RF1 wrote: ↑4 weeks ago The only good tournaments URI seems to get into more recently only seem to be when it plays at Mohegan Sun. Re: A10 OOC MTE Tournaments 2024
2 years ago we played Kansas State in a tourney along with LSU in the Cayman Islands. I'd say of the fanbases we showed out pretty well.RF1 wrote: ↑4 weeks ago The only good tournaments URI seems to get into more recently seem to be restricted to when it plays at Mohegan Sun. IDK are we just looking for reasons to shit on the team now?
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.
Give to the Athletic Director's Fund
Give to Rhody's NIL

It’s not as much what tournaments we are in, it’s what we do in these tournaments.

I would like to see even more of the MTE’s created so the the A10 can get even more games against the P6.

Re: A10 OOC MTE Tournaments 2024
Would love URI to get into the Charleston Classic one of these years as it always has a strong field. It is an ESPN operated event that has been held nearly every season since 2008. UMass and St Bonaventure have won it and many other present A-10 teams have participated over the years (Davidson 4x, Dayton 3x, GMU 2x, St Joe's 2x, VCU, & LaSalle). Rhody has never appeared in it. URI did however participate once (2014) in the network's similar type tournament ESPN Events Invitational held near Orlando.
