They've sometimes seemed prone to being on the wrong side of the comedy/tragedy line for upsets. My brother in law and I both thought the game vs dead coach walking had 'one of those games' potential. Now that they got by Dayton...looks like now all they need to do is beat Baylor, North Carolina and UConn...piece of pie.

I think Gonzaga scored on their first 8 possession of the 2nd half.

Impressive.

Went from down 1 to up 15.

And, just like that, Reef, they make a run to cut their deficit to 1.

I guess I pissed them off with my knock-off Keaney Blue post.

It's all relative I guess. You make that many in a row, aren't your expectations for a natty a little higher?

Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy with one in a row at this point.

Yeah I had a late feeling that Illinois would spank Duquesne, face it the Dukes were a middling team in a not great A10 that got hot in the conference tournament

Hats off to them for making it to the round of 32 a huge long shot

Casual Fan observations...
This tourney, like no other, provides you with so many chances to see amazing clutch/outstanding individual performances in a nicely condensed period of time. Those who know hoops probably knew all about Trey Townsend. I had never heard of him or Gohlke before the tourney. Outstanding individual performance for Gohlke vs Kentucky, but man, that dude Townsend can ball. DJ Burns....42 minutes, and kept up with the game every minute he was in there, awesome performance. Playing at what looks like at least three bills, If he could get down to the 275 he's listed at...

Kansas...everyone knew that was coming. That they would get clocked in the second round was inevitable, why they didn't just take the L vs Samford for probably more than half of all bracket's sake, who knows.

FAU loses on Friday, coach has deal with a new school (maybe two, depending on what you believe) on Saturday. But for the Michigan one, they worked "late into the evening" on Saturday, so, at least you know there was probably nothing going on beforehand, just one of those quickie 5 year multimillion dollar deals.

OT: I know nothing about what's happening with Kim Mulkey, except she is making a real fuss about something. Threatening to "whatever", 'if someone says whatever'.... will no doubt be seen by some as smoke/fire scene...like, what is it that she's so wound about? And now that she is, it'll be out soon enough anyway...

Mulkey is pretty well known at this point for being an awful human being that wins games. Her going scorched earth preemptively just means way more people are going to read that Washington Post story when it comes out, and they're going to be the heels of this tournament too.

She's clearly afraid of the skeletons in her closet.

Here's a link to the WaPo story she was yelling about:
https://wapo.st/3TDuQzw
Far from a hit piece on Brian Kelly, the story villianizes -- and correctly so -- LSU for its treatment (or lack thereof) of its host city.

I have to give NBE coaches credit, they know how to guide their teams through crunch time to wins.

Of course it helps to have excellent college players, like Kolek, too.

Utah State 13 fouls

Purdue 5

Breathe on Edey, foul.

Utah St waited until Purdue scored 13 unanswered points before finally calling a timeout.

That's pretty much it.

PRT, if I was a college coach in an NCAAT game, I wouldn’t let my opponent go on a double digit point run (never mind 13) without calling a time out to settle things down or, make an adjustment or, make a substitution or, break my opponents momentum, etc.

But that’s me.

That's the one thing that really puzzles me about some of these coaches.

Why they think letting their guys figure it out or waiting for the media timeout is a good idea.

It's like they don't understand how human emotion works or momentum.

I've seen time and time again when coaches use that timeout, they almost 99% of the time male an adjustment and start to get things going positively for them. Not just the adjustment, but literally making the other team stop playing gets them out of a rhythm.

Purdue would probably win anyway, but waiting until you're down double digits effectively lost the game. You could tell watching UT St was totally rattled and Purdue was feeling it. He just lost the season right there. He just let his guys piss down their legs for until it was too late.

Like how do these coaches not get it? It's mind-blowing to me.
