I don't know how you fix this with this cast of characters. There is not one of them that is a difference maker on defense. Does anyone think any of these guys will change over the summer? Does anyone think anyone of the supposed core really cares. If it hasn't meshed by game 32 it's not going to mesh. Archie has a real tough summer in front of him. I don't identify with any of these players to care if they stay or go. Really embarrassing being a rhody fan right now. Where's the pride from these kids?

This team packed it in weeks ago, no surprise here today. Team is severely in need of a talent infusion and players with much better attitudes. Its pretty amazing actually how a D1 team can be so bad as so many things. Defense is horrific, effort is nonexistent, shooting is poor, ball handling is comical. Not sure how Archie is going to fix this, but its difficult to see us being relevant anytime soon.

It is a good thing the NCAA does not track charging fouls as we would probably be at the bottom. When was the last time our opponent was charged with a charging foul?

Zek Montgomery sucks. Have no idea why he plays. His defense, even when he tries which is about 50% of the time, is awful, That half ass close out on Hargrove was pathetic. He gives you nothing on offense so I have no idea why he sees the floor. Sole reason why it went from five to 11 in 30 seconds.

Ugh.

Honestly, offensively we’ve moved the ball well and got open shots. We are just missing said open shots. And layups.

Defensively we’re bad everywhere but when you play a team focused defense, one late guy can screw everything else. Fuchs and Brown are slow, lost, and shit defensively.

Why they are hedging ball screens outside of the 3 point line and then watching the ball is beyond me. They are too slow. They are late. It forces everyone else to rotate to cover and then they’re either giving up easy layups, fouling, or giving the free kick out to the open 3.

Obviously Fuchs is a freshman and will improve, but I’d like to add a defensive big in the transfer portal to my wishlist.

Fuchs and Brown both missed a relatively easy rebound that SLU turned into a 3 pointer each time. Everyone knows our defense is awful and I say that Montgomery is one of the worst defenders. I don't know how Archie is able to sleep at night after watching this team in action.

For me, Zek has been by far the most disappointing player on this team,he plays with zero emotion and a complete lack of urgency, almost like he'd rather be anywhere but on the court, its bizarre how he just got progressively worse as the season unfolded. My list of players who I'd be upset if we dont keep has shrunk to 3 (Estevez, Weston, Fuchs), I want to add House and Green to that list but I just cant. The good news is we will soon be in the offseason which is the best time to be a Rhody fan.

I suspect it will look much better next season with a floor general that has quick hands and a defense first wing player in the rotation. House is still not a good defender but gives more effort now compared to when he first got here. Fuchs is sneaky good at fighting for position. Montgomery has no excuse for his below average defense compared to his length and athleticism. Kortright moves like a middle aged man at the YMCA, he is not going to shut anyone down ever. David Green is about average. Tyson Brown might improve if he sticks around he seems to give a damn. Estevez has not competed as hard as I'd like defensively but freshmen generally improve. Dubsky looks like a well coached player on the defensive end even if he is not a great athlete. Brandon Weston has been a decent defender this season.

I don't think the freshmen have been the problem. Fuchs and Cam had solid freshman years. Hammond is probably his best get so far. Farrell, we shall see.

What I think we need is better two-way vets from the transfer portal.
