The Rams are one win away from the NCAA Tournament!!! They are looking for just their second tournament appearance ever, the first happening in 1996. In the game yesterday afternoon against St. Louis, Rhody was up 16 at the half and barely held on to get the win. Now the Rams play top seeded Richmond Sunday afternoon.

The Spiders went an impressive 16-2 in conference play & finished with a 28-5 overall record. The only conference losses were on the road to Duquesne & George Mason, both teams that finished towards the top of the conference. The Rams lost both games this season. The Spiders are led by sophomore forward Maggie Doogan is averaging 15.3 points per game & has scored in double-digits in 11 straight games. She is also leading the team in rebounding at 5.7 per game. Senior guard Grace Townsend is leading the team in assists at 5.2 per game. She is also second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game. It should be a good matchup between Townsend & URI’s Dee Dee Davis. Sophomore guard Rachel Ullstrom is third on the team in scoring at almost 12 points per game. She is the teams best three-point shooter, so the Rams will definitely need to keep an eye on her. The teams final double-digit scorer is forward Addie Budnik with 11.7 points per game. She is an excellent defender, especially down on the block. She is averaging an impressive 2.5 blocks per game so when the Rams drive to the hoop they will need to keep an eye on her.

Unfortunately for the Rams, this game will be basically a home game for the Spiders as the arena where the games are being played is just 15 minutes from Richmond’s campus. The Rams have never beaten the Spiders on a neutral court, going 0-3. The Rams struggled mightily from the line in Saturday's game, shooting it just 50%. If the Rams want to pull off the upset win they will need to shoot better from the line. Thankfully they shot the ball well from the field to secure the win. Both teams have won 4 in a row. Which team gets their 5th win & punches their ticket to the NCAA tournament. My prediction, the Rams are going dancing, URI 66 – Richmond 62. Go Rhody!!

I think our team when playing their A game, is certainly capable of winning.
We just lacked consistency for the regular season.

Richmond is tough and have played well all season.
They beat us pretty bad (19 pts) earlier at the RC.
This game will be especially hard because it is in Richmond at the Henrico Center.

Hoping we can get it done and Tammi punches our ticket to the "Dance".

URI lostJan 14 to Richmond at Richmond 71-67. Starters were:
Davis
Phillips
Toure
Hyman
Komara
Dutat DNP

Phillips was 5-11 3P and 5-5 FT


URI lost Feb 7 to Richmond at URI 68-49. Starters were:
Davis
Phillips
Toure
Magassa
Dutat
Debroise DNP
Toure was 2-12 FG and Phillips was 0-6 FG


The current Starting Line Up includes only 3 who played both previous games being Davis, Phillips and Toure. The team is now back fully healthy at the right time.

Today's Starting Line Up based on the Tournament so far will be:
Davis - has excelled at wing since the Duquesne game with scoring and especially rebounding
Phillips
Toure
Dutat - minutes have continued to expand , especially from the OOC portion of the schedule
Debroise - moved to starting PG with Hyman injury. Enabled Davis to move from PG to wing where she has flourished. Debroise has brought maturity, experience, energy, unselfish passing and tenacious defense since becoming the starting PG

Hyman 1st off the bench. She is improving her play since returning from injury.

URI played an extra day/game due to the 6-seed but that can be an advantage for a team that is coming together and on an upward path.

I think we surprise and the 6-seed URI beats the 1-seed today!!! Last year 3-seed St Louis beat 1-seed UMass for the Championship.

We were favored to win the A10 preseason. We have the talent, experience and the all important "chip on our shoulder" to win this thing today.

Native, that first photo on the Projo page is from last year's team. You have Tammi Reiss and Sophie Phillips and then three players who don't even play on this team anymore, namely: Dolly Cairns, Sayawni Lassiter, and Emmi Rinat.

Kind of sloppy work by the Projo there.

It's tough to beat a team three times in one season. Advantage URI!

Yeah why don’t they have a day off built in like the men do? It makes so much sense!

I like the toughness of this team, nobody is dogging out there, we just seem to be severely outclassed in talent. I know its tough to play 4 games in a row, but this team is in desperate needs some shooters/scorers. To many lapses on the defensive end also. I hope Tammi stays here because I've enjoyed the few games I've attended so far.

Richmond wants desperately to let us get into the game but we keep missing shots.

Debroise is a painful shooter.

I can’t imagine she goes anywhere. She took herself out of the running for her Alma mater of Virginia, talked about working for Thorr, and not wanting to leave unfinished business.

This is the definition of a disappointment. Preseason #1, finishing 6th.

Plus she’s on a very long contract making very good money.

How many URI fans? Would you say as many as UCONN had at the dump when they killed pc? or less?

The A-10 tournament was definitely a great turnaround for an extremely disappointing season. I just hope Tammi reconsiders her approach to limit playing time for freshmen and recruits some real scorers.
