You had posted many times that KJ wasn't leaving, and you would have the last laugh.
You also said that Hammond was staying because of Archie.

Now we bring back your favorite Rhody player, Bassy.

Just want to make sure you are all good.

Of course, you realize this is just some friendly razzing.
Hang in there.
Lol the KJ stuff was so back and forth on what was actually happening, there were times he was gone and he wasn't. My shots were mainly pointed at Vault who had next to zero insight and just took a guess and was ultimately right weeks after he said it was happening immediately.

Hammond was a surprise to leave, but like anything, give me the experience guy over the developing freshman these days.

Bassy, like Fatts, in the right system with the right coach, can be a good PG. I'm assuming Archie didn't bring him in here to shoot 16 times in a game. I think we'll be fine if he plays within himself.

Sebastin Thomas vs Jaden House prior to transferring here:
Points: 19.6 vs 17.3
FG %: 43.1 vs 43.2
FT%: 77.5 vs 64.7
3%: 29.4 vs 27.9
Reb: 4.2 vs 3.9
Assist: 4.9 vs 2.3
Stl: 1.9 vs .7
TO: 2.8 vs 2.9
SOS: slight edge probably ST
KB Reaction: Mixed vs Signed EC Matthews Twin Bro

House isn’t staying to come off the bench.

That leaves Cam as the 4th guard? He can’t be too happy with that.
Last I heard Cam was very happy to here, things change this time of year tho so who knows.
Everyone can’t be a starter. Then everyone would leave every team. If they fit a role and get time, they should be happy.

Zero people compared House to EC.

Good lord there is some revisionist history. There was almost zero fanfare for ANY of our recruits last year lol.

Now let’s land Isaiah Miranda!! :o
I have no idea what Miranda’s ceiling is at this point. But, we may as well kick the tires on him ?

Maybe some home cooking and playing for the hometown flagship university will wake him up ?

ETA: and playing alongside his friend Bassy, too, of course.
I always appreciated Thomas hustle. I'm glad he is back. I like the size of the fight in that dog and it was definitely missing on this team last season from some of the now departed players. Is he a major talent? Not really, but I like rooting for the young guy.
DeanDome, I think part of it is what are fans comfortable with and/or favor: potential (potential of freshman and inexperience) or maturity (physical and mental plus experience).

At this time with the way that the game is trending, I favor maturity/experience over potential if given the choice. And, I am a big Hammond supporter and love his game. But, I want to see Rhody return to relevance soon and players like Hammond need time to adjust.

In my perfect roster, we would have a mix of young, patient players with potential and mature, experienced players but with the ladder leading the way and playing more.

Exaggerating a bit on the reaction but a good side by side on the stats. I mean I get it, another year of losing changes everyone’s outlook regarding decisions made.

For those that are 1/2 empty, I get it. With the Bassy 2.0, this probably where the program is at this point. Meh at best.

Loving the people who now are like “eh, never really wanted Hammond anyways, too short, would've taken too long to develop and adjust, give me a more experienced player” when for MONTHS they were salivating at Hammond coming here.

The ole “I didn’t want to date her any longer anyways” after a girl dumps you.

I think everyone knows Hammond is a loss. I personally felt this was likely coming for a while, so I mentally prepared for it. The question brought up was, would you rather have Hammond or Lawerence next year? A few of us feel like Lawerence is the better player now, myself included. Hammond has the tools to be special, but I don't think it would happen freshman year. If we know that Hammond would come and stick around for 3 seasons, then he's a massive massive loss. In this day and age, the chances of that happening are slim to none, so it doesn't really hurt as much as it would have years ago. It sucks, but that's just college basketball now.

Archie responded and landed two players who will help us win more games next year. I'm happy with what he's done so far, but there is still plenty of work left to be done.

It’s early and there’s lotsa fish out there…

What’s the latest on Miranda? Would he even qualify academically at this point? (Does that matter anymore?)

I’ll take a 5 star project with a close pal on the team all day. Would also get URI hoops on the radar big time no?

The trials and tribulations of being a fan - especially on KB where there is a hunger to get back to winning.

Like you posted above, PRT, a tale as old as time or, as I would say…a tale of fandom as old as time. Or, even more specifically, maybe it’s a tale of Rhody fandom as old as Frank Keaney if he were still alive. :D

So what if objectivity takes a back seat occasionally on a fan forum. Be a fan and enjoy it and have fun with it. Rhody fans come in all stripes and sizes.

Go Rhody!

A complete Bs take.

I said it would have been exciting to watch Hammond for ONE YEAR. And you remember that’s what I said, because it was only 6 hours ago that I said it and Rhody15 has absolutely no comeback for that because he knows it’s right.

Which of course pisses him off because he always has to be right. So instead he puts words in your mouth and tries to get you to own them.

A tale as old as 1996 when URI message boards came into being

Yes, I would put Fuchs at the top of the list, but I love Cam, too. I hope he stays. I hope he's okay with developing one more year and being a full-time starter in his junior/senior year. He should still have an important role this year as well.

I’d be good with bringing in another Rhode Islander. Maybe he turns out to be a pleasant surprise playing at home State U with his buddy.

Do you think that was promised? I'm not sure...I almost think he'd have come here for practically no promises at all. There's no question the dude believes in himself. I don't think he needed any more than a 'fair shot' and he was good to go, then again, I could be totally wrong.

Ha, I completely forgot about this - wonder if he was in the crowd. My wife (former collegiate gymnast) and I were here for the championships on Thursday and today, since its a reasonable drive from Houston to Dallas. I don't think his daughter got into any meets this year.

Yeah Bassy is the only guy who would solely play the PG. Ways is def left out.

Luis/JLaw can play 1-3. They'd provide spot duty along with playing the 2 and 3 with Cam and House.

The only thing is the wing player we get will be able to play the 3 or 4. So they'd help back up Green and probably be put in with Green?

Starting 5
Bassy
JLaw
House
Green
Fuchs

Luis
Cam
Wing transfer
Farrell
Fuchs back up

Yeah...idk

URI reached out to Bassy, so I think there had to be some level of frank discussion, especially considering it’s Thomas’ last year of eligibility.
I don’t think Miller 100% promises starting roles but he might say things like it’s yours to lose.

At any rate, I’m thrilled with the addition.

I want to take this opportunity to apologize to everyone who said Archie was cooked and was a failure here who I argued with. You were right, I was wrong. I'm sorry.

We are completely and totally fucked

We need bigs.
Miranda is 7'1". Is that big enough?
Are you hearing rumblings, 78 ?

I’d be good with bringing in another Rhode Islander. Maybe he turns out to be a pleasant surprise playing at home State U with his buddy.

ETA: you can’t teach 7-1”. Plus some kids are late bloomers.
Who knows, maybe there's some really tall kid in Pascoag we could bring in. Not like it matters at this point

Miranda was a solid 4 star. Rivals 30th or so definite consensus top 60 2022. Might not be as big of a project as you think.

His daughter is a freshman on the team.
That’s great. He’s getting paid $1.5 million to be the head coach at the University of Rhode Island and his last tweet involving anything URI was back in February.

Who cares? We aren’t paying him to tweet.

We could do worse.

What this indicates to me is actually a positive.

Based on the players who have stayed and those who have left, we could have a squad who gives consistent effort, even though the talent level might still not be good enough to contend at the top of the A10.

We still have 3 or 4 openings which could help that deficit keeping fingers crossed.
If Bassy comes here...that's where your NIL dough will be going. Some of the bigger NIL pimps here are also some of the biggest Bassy bashers, so if he comes here, those people gonna be apoplectic and conflicted, no? (Who said nothing good will ever come of NIL? )
Sebastian Thomas returns, should be our starting PG, brought in by Austin Carroll and Thomas now pockets a nice bag of NIL.

Carroll now credited with the starting C and the starting PG for 2024-2025 and recruiting is not yet over.

College Basketball - expect the unexpected!
