Would imagine that Hurley would know the reasons behind his departure from URI, and would steer clear of Mading.

Can you elaborate on this? Feel free to send DM if it's not for public consumption.

Recent footage. It doesn't appear to me that he sucks. I know there are reasons that he is no longer here, although I don't know what they are. But to say he's no good is wrong.

Never seen a guy who has done so little and didn’t compete well against top competition get so much hype.

I cannot elaborate, other to say that he was asked to leave the university and I concur that it was a very good decision. He was not the type of student/athlete that we would want representing URI.

My guess is that I saw him in person four times when he played for Springfield Commonwealth. He was playing against weak competition and wasn’t impressive in any of the games. He was never the best player on the floor.

And I could add that leaving had nothing to do with his ability to play basketball. So all the monitoring of his progress and where he eventually ends up is irrelevant. It wasn’t basketball related.

I guess there is always room for a guy that size who can shoot like that but I be surprised if he lands at a P5 school

Yes. When comparing P5 to Chipola there a substantial adjustment just in the quality of completion and speed of the game. Who knows how this kid does at various levels.

He said LSU recently reached out and will be in to see him soon.”

That tweet from Jake was deleted, but here's a more official one.

(Also, remember Damon Stoudemire?)

Did he ever even mention College of the Pacific? That quote with all the P5s "to mention a few" was BS!

I knew there was no way that this kid was playing at Kentucky or Kansas. I watched him play a lot in the summer of 2018 and he just wasn’t that good. He is paper thin and would have got manhandled at that level. That says a lot about what height will get you in terms of offers in college basketball.

Yeah all the tweets are being deleted. Maybe he's not going to Pacific after all?

ETA: looks like it's official.

If he strung out his decision a little longer and put a few breadcrumbs out, perhaps he could have eclipsed the Naheem thread. He should have posted something like “Jayhawk Nation, I see you!” That would have been good for at least six more pages. 😁

His name came up in another thread, which made me curious about where he's at by now... He played nine games in 2020-21 for a Serbian team in their A-League, averaging seven minutes per game. So, I assume he'll be on the move again for 2021-22. He's also now 21, so the clock is ticking on him becoming the next Kevin Durant.
