It’s not surprising. He needs to win just as badly as we want him to win. Popcorn off-season haha

Two!!!

Who?

Weston and JB?

We really need a PG now!

Now, more than before, Archie needs to land a centerpiece player(s) to help entice others. Hard to believe 1 year later the cupboard is more bare than last year.

I also agree with others we will have to continue to gamble on players with high upside but some baggage and hope they workout.

Not a problem. But this has to be the last time this happens. Like I said above, Archie has to get it right this off-season, bringing in better talent who will stay here and become the nucleus going forward.

As of last year's scrimmage, I'll be much happier taking my chances with this year's "more bare" cupboard than last year's "less" (?) bare cupboard.

I guess I'm gonna have to go to next years scrimmage before the season contest begins again. Another eye test year it seems.

I agree, just hard to believe that’s how it turned out. Basically worst case. So I guess Archie is giving himself an F for last season.

Not doing well with my personal predictions on the turnover, as I had Ish and Thomas staying, but I still see Weston , Bilau, Rory, Foumena and Alex staying. Tough to pick up 8-10 new players where all of them would better, and blend into the system fast enough for a turnaround of any consequence.

According to Mark Radigan, while Ish has expressed that he is open to return, not the case with Bassy. He's 100% gone. Not open to return.

Out of practical necessity I can see those 5 as well. Then he only needs 7-8 new players! Hopefully at least 3 of whom are starting A10 quality from day 1. When I say A10, I mean traditional A10, not this crap we saw this year.

Basically, Cox left Archie with about 3 serviceable players: Ish, Martin, and Carey, on the level of what he's going to need to build a championship team here. Two graduated, one left. He's not beholden to keep anyone else, going into year two. I'm glad he cut Thomas loose.

College basketball is not the same as when he last coached in the A-10, I'm sure he learned that lesson at Indiana. It's a ruthless, cut throat business and not for the faint of heart.

But if you are good at it, like apparently Cooley is, up the road, you can get better fast.

It's like hiring OJ's legal team, to get you out of a ticket in traffic court.

You play from year to year; there is no building for the future. The future is now. Archie will say what he has to say to sell his program to the public and get the most from players. What he said was his strategy when hired was pure PR/BS.

If Thomas wants to start at the highest possible level, he will stay at URI. If he wants to be a star, he will move down. If he wants to be a sub on a team that has a chance of playing in the NCAAT then that is an outside possibility.

If Archie is telling players that he is blowing up the team, it is to get players to leave voluntarily rather than cutting them. I doubt he is saying the same thing to all players in their individual post-season interviews. Churn, churn, churn.

Some here mentioned Weston, Rory, Foumena - guys Archie brought in - as potentially staying put. I have no inside info but do agree with it. I think Archie give them another year to get solidly rotational. Maybe Foumena gets an additional year (a 3rd yr) since he didn’t play this season.

Maybe Archie gives Hutch one more crack at it, too, depending on who he is successful bringing in or not.

Finally, didn’t Archie publicly welcome Carey back if he wants to come back or did I imagine that ? It wouldn’t shock me if I did.

A lot of good speculation going on. It’s keeping me on my toes. Much appreciated 👍🏼

Not sure if this tweet is 100% accurate. I watched Ayo-Faleye go for 5 and 6 against Marquette in the NCAA tournament. I plan on watching the Mitchell twins play today against Kansas. Antwan had a solid year as well. Not sure if this years failures fall on the feet of Cox. In fact I'll probably stay up late to watch his team play this evening!

He can prob be a fringe starter for a bad low major or a clear backup for a more decent one. CAA feels like a stretch. But NEC, MAAC, America East.

Yep, way too many “ifs” too many “unknowns” too many “ can be a role player” too many “by Sr. Year will be goods” n”needs time to rehab”……..need players to come here, step on campus, be starters and impact players day one, or two……..maybe “incident” baggage is OK, more green flag stats than red flags.
