With #'s 12, 14, and 15 all losing this week, I think we at least have a decent shot at #15...

Jesse Newell's rankings are a JOKE per usual. How are we not in his top 25?

He has CREIGHTON ranked ahead of us. They're 7-9 against quadrants 1 and 2 ......

His Big East rankings are all over the place. Xavier at 10? Butler at 19? I'm convinced he doesn't watch any East Coast conferences.

He’s been a joke all year, and will continue to be a fraud.

I doubt he watches any games outside of his market (KU, Wichita state, KSU) etc. hence the ranking for Creighton.

It’s all good, most writers and good-to-decent ones have us in a good spot. John Rothstein, Katz, Seth Davis actually watch and cover all games from cartel to mid major on down, what and who they rank is more accurate then our buddy Jesse

wow, way to pass the buck there Jesse, what a joke. props to you URI'21 on asking the question. His response is laughable, he still didn't answer anything regarding Q1/Q2 wins. I know both are didfferent teams, but maybe he missed the waxing we put on them last year in the tourney. You should also ask him having Xavier at 10 haha, everywhere else they are top 5, what a moron this guy is

I had a similar conversation with a 4 year old today.

Me: Did you take the car from her?
Kid: I had goldfish for snack.

Ok, but about what I asked? Anything?

On a positive note, Matt Vautour who covers UMass for the Daily Hampshire Gazette consistently has one of the better ballots each week. Reasonable and defensible. He's one of only a handful of A-10 beat writers with a vote, so good on him.

But I imagine we have to win out now to only drop 1 seed. Lose Friday or in the A10 tourney, where do we go, 8 or 9?

Agreed about having to win out.....if we don't recover we could be anywhere from 8-10 imo......we aren't Duke or Kentucky, they would only drop one seed line after this....we won't be as lucky.....the committee will be watching.

Going to miss checking the rankings to see what number is next to Rhode Island. But this time of year not many people even know the top 25 rankings, it’s only the seed number next to there name.
This weekend could be an amazing weekend!

How the hell did we stay ranked after this horrible week? This is another example of voters not paying attention to what transpired since the last poll. Rhody doesn't deserve to remain in the top 25 after the week it just had.

I'll take it , plus how often does a team fall more than 8 spots in one week?

It will be the seventh straight week that URI has been in the AP Top 25. Regardless of outcomes this week, it will be the 25th ranked team in the nation on Selection Sunday when the field is announced.

How many ranked teams lose twice in a week with one of those defeats being by 30 points on its own home court to a sub .500 team?

Rhody's loss on senior night was historic. There has only been one other ranked team that has lost at home by a bigger margin.

I think it speaks to the laziness of some voters( as has been discussed earlier in the thread). I think voters got used to seeing us in the rankings and gave is a little leniency based on name recognition.
Almost the opposite of why it took us a while to get ranked/move up.

I was thinking a drop out of the polls might be a good motivational tool for our team. Instead, we will have a ranking giving every opponent in DC even more of an incentive to beat us.

Not sure other teams need any more motivation to beat us. Wouldn’t you think a potential NCAA bid would be motivation enough to have other teams give it their all? Are they really going to try harder now because we are ranked 25th?

VCU/Dayton's motivation is we beat them this year (Dayton twice). St Joes/Davidson/St Bonnies already beat us that's their motivation. Nothing to do with a # beside our name.

Probably not going to make any difference, however.... this IS yet another 'good thing' (being ranked) that some folks can turn into a 'something to worry about' (imaginary extra motivation)... so, it's a win-win....

every other team in the A10 could care less about a ranking right now since all their focus is to beat the next team and advance to try and get the auto bid (excluding the bonnies from this).

Who ever we play will have motivation to extend their season and try to get the automatic. We will be motivated to never replicate last week and get back to our winning ways

You really think that voters missed that we got killed on Tuesday and then lost again on Friday? I think voters just have more respect for this team based on what they've done throughout the whole year than many of our own fans do. It's unfortunate.

Glad to see voters not overly influenced by one bad game and one tough game.
