They are going to give us fits for sure, a team you don't want to see in the ncaa's.
Absolutely, they play that 3-2 zone and on offense move the ball around really well and they have shot makers

With the game out of reach with a minute or so left Lynn Greer III deflected a ball on defense that went the length of the court. Greer raced after the ball, the length of the court and almost saved it. Nova's guy (think it was Hausen) was running slower than Greer after it. So despite SJU handily in control and Nova needing the ball badly it was Greer giving the best effort. SJU was hungrier but also played very unselfishly, passed beautifully and relentless defense.

St Joe with advantage in:
steals 9 to 5
turnovers 11 to 17
assists 19-15

PC Great and all time NCAA Steals leader (in 4 years) Jon Lenihan is an Assistant Coach for St Joe's. Feel like you can see Lenihan's impact on the defensive play on the floor.

Tyler Burton, Richmond Transfer, get only 4 rebounds and 5 points for Nova.

Maybe the coaching/teaching moment was that they use that time out in future games to set up the next possession either way, regardless of score ?

St Joe's was the 10th seed in last year's A10 Tournament. Beat Loyola 1st round, Upset 7-seed GW by 11 in 2nd round. Lost to 2-seed Dayton by 6 in what was a 1 possession game with under a minute. I was impressed with the Coaching of Lange in the A10 Tournament.

St Joe's kept their key players and added some highly regarded freshmen. Lange's ability to keep Reynolds was admirable as he could have significant transfer interest. Lange has recruited and retained local players well. Got Lynn Greer III to transfer back home to Philly from Dayton. Jon Lenihan is a solid Assistant Coach for St Joe - all time NCAA Steals leader in 4 years of play.

Solid win.

This seems like a make-or-break year for Lange, and the league is better if St. Joe's is better, so hopefully they have figured some things out. Xzayvier Brown has been dynamite from day one, and their guard depth is pretty impressive.

I haven’t seen a lot of the A10 teams but based on watching Joes tonight and seeing they took Kentucky to OT they may have as good a shot as any to win that regular season 10-1 Fsn Dual

Speaking of Merrimack, former transfer target of ours Jordan Minor is currently playing about the same minutes per game as you and I at UVA, making minimal impact.

Doubt he has that in mind when he transferred.

Lange just got a Contract extension at the end of last season. He has brought in an impressive recruiting class and landed some good transfers. If he were to get fired then they would likely lose most of their new recruits. He has recruited Philadelphia well. He has his own guys there now. He has Jon Lenihan as an excellent Assistant Coach. Lange was able to retain Eric Reynolds who could have easily transferred to high major.

Last season St Joe's was picked preseason #13 and finished #10. They exceeded expectations in the A10 Tournament
St Joe's won their 1st 2 Tournament games as they beat 15-seed Loyola, then upset 7-seed GW and then lost a close contest with 2-seed Dayton.

The Dayton game was well played. I saw live a great performance by Toumani Camara for Dayton as he went for 18 rebounds and 17 points against St Joe's. Camara got in foul trouble in the Championship playing only 20 minutes before fouling out as Dayton lost to a very tough VCU squad.
Camara left Dayton with a year left and played well at the NBA Portsmouth last summer. Drafted 2nd round then traded to Portland Camara made the team and is now in the starting lineup for Portland. Point being Dayton was a very tough game for St Joe and this year with most starters back plus a strong recruiting class St Joe's could make a move to potentially win the A10 or at least be in the running to get to the Semi-Finals.

I was impressed by Lange's coaching in the Tournament, his ability to retain his players and to recruit a solid freshman class fo this year. He is doing a solid job recruiting the local Philly area.

At 2023-2024 A10 Media Day this October I wanted to watch the interviews of Billy Lange, Fran Dunphy, Keith Urgo, Chris Caputo and Archie Miller. All were impressive. Lange was impressive in talking about his team and upcoming season.

I know Lange got off to a slow start at St Joe's and I do not care at all for the AD that fired Phil M and hired Lange but I think Lange could surprise people this season.

Seems the Extension is based more on the future than on Lange's poor 1st couple years but if he does not do well this season his seat could get hot rather quickly.

Court storming as Arkansas beats Duke

You could feel the energy. Legendary head coach Nolan Richardson, who led Arkansas to a 1994 national championship win over Duke, received a standing ovation from students as he walked to his seat before the game. You could tell it was going to be a loud night.

"Incredible home crowd tonight," Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman said after the game. "I mean, just an insane environment. Real cool to experience that, even as kind of an old guy."

After the starting lineups were read — with Devo Davis receiving the loudest ovation as usual — the crowd was the loudest I've ever heard it before a game. ESPN analyst Jay Bilas agreed.

It would have been nice for LaSalle to have pulled out the win at Temple but it was still a good night for the A-10. 5-2 with five of those games on the road against the likes of Villanova (W), Wichita State (L), SMU (W), Temple (L), and Charlotte (W). Days like yesterday raise the computer ratings for all A-10 teams.

Rothstein goes into more depth in a subsequent tweet about his model of reducing the A-10 league schedule and getting more Quad 1 and 2 OOC games. While this sounds great in theory, the reality of today's college basketball landscape makes it highly unlikely to be achievable. If it were, wouldn't A-10 programs already (without any needed league schedule change) be reducing the number of OOC games against low level opponents for such games? As I see it, they are not presently doing that because they cannot currently get better games.

I hear ya, RF1. JR’s solution - bad or good - aside, I am grateful he is stirring the soup, so to speak. I hope he continues to do so because the more advocates we have is a piece to the puzzle that helps keep the conference relevant.

St Joe's remaining OOC schedule
N Temple
H American
H Princeton
N Iona
@ Charleston
H Loyola MD

Dayton
H Grambling
H UNLV
H Troy
@ Cincinnati
H Oakland
H Longwood

Win out and I think they go into A-10 play with a very solid shot at an at large.

Moreso Dayton than St Joe's I'd think.

That loss to Texas A&M Commerce is going to stick out like a sore thumb. They also won't get credit for losing a close game to Kentucky.
