If that is true it is the first I am hearing of it. reef is a legend on this board, so I'd hope he wouldn't go away because one of his posts was criticized. I actually recall his posts slowly becoming less and less frequent until they finally stopped altogether. I guess if he really just quit posting at least that would mean he is personally OK, which would be good news. He hasn't logged on since last January and his last posts - in typical reef fashion - were talking about gambling.

I went back and I'm probably wrong. He was here for about 3 weeks after his bye bye comment to Mike Powell. So, I don't know where he went. While we're on this subject, where has Ace been?

Reef took tons of abuse on the old Projo Red Sox board, with one
particular board bully giving him lots of static.
So, I doubt anything anyone here said, would bother him to any degree.
I know he said once that his wife died and his life didn't sound like
a lot of fun.
I hope he's alright.

Nice numbers for X. Led the team in scoring with 27, led the team in assists with 7 and was 2nd in rebounds with 8.

Always had talent. Still jacking up threes, though. I could see Huggins tackling him at some point this season mid release on a 24 footer.

yes, GBG, I saw that too. Interesting talent Holton has for offensive rebounding. He had an ability to tip the ball, keep it alive on the offensive glass and ultimately contain the offensive rebound. Comments or observations from WVU fans include him being bigger and stronger than they thought he would be and also refer to him as a beast.
Shame things did not work out for him at URI. Shame Baron did not have a stronger leash or control on him. We could certainly use his rebounding skills this year.

Yep, would have been a greatly different first three years of Hurley if Holton was a senior this year as a Ram.

I saw Huggins quotes as saying he was encouraging Holton to play the stretch 4 and even out to the 3, so I have to assume he is also encouraging Jonathan to shoot from the perimeter.

Interesting. I think someone posted his JUCO stats and he was close to 40% from three. The way the new NBA is, I could see him making a team if he could step out there consistently with everything else he can do.

So I'm watching the NBDL game between Bakersfield and Rio Grande Valley to get a look at X (who got the start) and who comes into the game to guard him?

None other than Akeem Richmond.

X looks solid!

I bet he glides to a respectable box score. Underrated trio there with Keith, Ulmer, Delroy.

I love Hassan Martin, his hops aren't even close to Ulmer's.

Those guys were gipped.

Are you serious? How many 7 footers did Ulmer ever block a shot on?.
ZERO.
Martin's done it several times.
Guess you missed Hassan jumping over TJ for a dunk at Madness.

I think we tend to romanticize how good former players were sometimes, Ulmer was great, but yeah, not even close to the natural abilities shown by Martin. Martin has legit NBA potential, Ulmer had longshot D-league potential. Just sayin. I mean it doesn't change how much I loved Ulmer, he hit the floor as hard as any Ram I've seen, probably never took a walking step in-between whistles, the guy was a ball of energy and he gave it all every time.

Hassan a better player but Ulmer definitely could jump higher, he was a freak athlete. Ulmer worked probably harder than anyone else on Baron's team

Ulmer is one of my all-time favorite Rams. Always gave 110% effort, and he was good for at least 2-3 highlight reel alley-oops every game. Fun to watch. But I do agree that Hassan is a better all-around player with much higher upside.

For the old timers, Percy Davis was a great leaper. Speaking of Hassan, it doesn't seem to me that he's blocking as many shots as he did last year. I haven't looked at the numbers so I might be wrong.

Wiley got in CFL's dog house, and Wiley wound up leaving.
CFL always had a dog house.
It always amazed me how good players like Wiley, Helenga, and Hazelton
got on that list, and people like Jon Clarke and Jamal Wise kept playing,
despite a lack of talent.

When he got to URI, Claude's nickname from juco was "Snowflake",
because he just floated down from the sky.

Nobody said ulmer was better than Hassan. I said he jumped higher. For that there is no doubt.

Just look at that hype video of the PC rivalry. Ulmer catches the ball like under the rim and throws it in with his head well above the rim. Nobody jumps like that on our team, or jumps like that regularly in college basketball.

As far as those 3 guys?? I liked them and was at school at the same time. I'm not romanticizing.

Saying that I thought those teams were gipped by not getting into the dance for whatever reason isn't a slight against the current team.

Surprise, I'm also a fan of the current team.

Hassan had a low block rate early last season too. He finished last year 2.5 bulk per game and is only 1.5 per game.

I really liked that 09/10 team with Del Keith and Monty. I would even say the play of Keith and Lamonte were the only reasons why those three choke teams were as good as they were until they choked. They also improved so much every year. In their senior year them and Delroy were quite hard to guard. Good people too.
Ulmer's been off playing in places like Luxembourg and Finland. I think he averaged something like 24 points and 15 rebounds per game playing against that competition. He probably jumped higher in those countries than anyone ever had!

Keith Cothran has now played two games for the Providence Sky Chiefs both resulting in wins. I'm not sure what he was doing prior to this, but he appears to be a little rusty. His game will only get better. The team has also signed Orion Outterbridge, who will begin playing shortly. He was at the game last night as a spectator and seems to have added some muscle. For all of you hoop fans that enjoy all types of basketball this is a good take. It's $10.00/ticket, kids are free, concessions are reasonable and the games play into the 100's. There is one local player, Shane DeRosa who is shooting 60% from the 3point line. Not sure what Giovanni Feroce has up his sleeve with this venture, but I wouldn't bet against him. The games are played at Pizzitola and there is plenty of free parking. It's worth checking out.

Jason Francis on the team as well. Not sure if that was already mentioned but just noticed it on that site.

Also noticed this listing: Cory Macchioni, VP of Basketball Operations

If that sounds familiar he was a grad assistant at canisius and team manager at URI with Baron.
