White is a Grad Transfer. Sat out 1 year at ASU to focus on studies. Immediately eligibleDanInAZ wrote: ↑4 years ago Arizona State forward Romello White is in the NCAA Transfer Portal, per a source. White averaged 10.2 PPG and 8.8 RPG this past season.
A player who would be in his final season at ASU, who started 29 games last year, who averaged 28+ minutes a game, has decided to leave a team that will enter next season in the top 25 (top 15?).
Tyrese, Mikhi, & Jacob... it is about them, just like it is about Romello. The sky isn't falling in Tempe. The sky isn't falling in in Kingston. If you think it is you need to get caught up with the times.
Toppin having to sit means he will be recruited over even more.
They are most likely going to land Patrick Baldwin or Jonathan Kuminga...If anyone thinks Toppin stands a chance to play over these guys you're crazy...
Point is for whatever reason a player who is getting playing time, contributing to his team, is part of a Top 25 team, still has a desire to go elsewhere.ramster wrote: ↑4 years agoWhite is a Grad Transfer. Long, Toppin and Martin must sit out a year.
It is kind of hard to do that when potential players do not know what their likely role on the team is going to be. If you are a grad transfer forward your playing time could vary widely depending on what the NCAA decides on the transfer rule.
He could be the 6th man there and be drafted - sit a year and let his body grow some. Not a terrible situation for Toppin. Tyrese sitting for the chance to play at UConn is a waste of his talent. Whoever got in his ear had bad advice because by the time he gets to play at UConn he will be recruited over.steveystuds06 wrote: ↑4 years agoThey are most likely going to land Patrick Baldwin or Jonathan Kuminga...If anyone thinks Toppin stands a chance to play over these guys you're crazy...

He is probably the only regular transfer remaining among the guys that we are rumored to be involved with that is worth the cost of potentially sitting five guys next year. Personally, I do not want to punt next season.rhodyblue12 wrote: ↑4 years ago I know we need players in case the rule does not pass .... but if you add Jalen Carey to this roster, we would be very interesting next year.
You’re right, brain fart.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑4 years agoIf Fatts leave, wouldn't someone who is immediately eligible be a priority?
Fits the need for next year for sure if the transfer rule does not pass. If our front court is JH, Antwan, Taurean I am good with that for next year. Add Jonah on the wing and we have ourselves a very good team next year and one that sets up well for the following season.Jersey77 wrote: ↑4 years ago I thought about Taurean, he got buried on the bench last year and only played a little in 1 game, must of been in the doghouse. He always had great talent in high school and first year at Syracuse. He may be a head case and heard he gave little effort on defense. Maybe Cox would be the right coach for him to teach him up.

I'm guessing most probably feel he is damaged goods or a headache not worth it.phipsiGD'11 wrote: ↑4 years ago Are we rumored to be in on him? I haven't seen anything on where he is looking to go.
