I love the idea, but don't know enough about what Tyson has done recruiting or where he is at as a teacher/tactician. Potentially it could be a great fit but would need to know more. He should get an interview if he's interested.

Who has the GPS tracker on Thorr for the next two weeks? Need someone also camped out at the Ahtletic offices to see who is coming and going

I’m all in on whoever will help install a Harrick style attacking offense with this group as a primary style of play.

Just my opinion, but the longer no potential names come out for interviews, the longer it would appear Cox would be the guy.

Or Slick Rick and classy Al together.

We can make this better than before.

Why would a current head coach accept a lower level position? Regardless, I have no desire to see Al back. His days on the sidelines in Kingston are long over. Out of loyalty, URI can offer him a bone. Give his program a home game vs URI, in exchange for four at the Ryan Center.

Keep in mind that some candidates may desire to remain confidential. If you watched Thorr's press conference, he mentioned several candidates had interest. He just publicly named Cox as he said he was the only person that had given his consent at that time to do so.

Many coaches often don't want to pursue a job in public to later not get it. Looks bad PR wise.

Skinner at BC gave URI two home games in exchange for four games at Chestnut Hill (two separate 2-1 series). It was justified and spun that BC was in the ACC and at a level higher than URI. I would like to think the gap between URI and Kennesaw State is far wider than BC versus URI. 4-1 seems very reasonable. Al should be grateful.

Outerbridge had his best game against BC. He came off the bench and scored like 15 on alley oops. Never got that kids affinity for the 3ball.

Interesting candidate except I can't see JT3 trying to compete with Cox (who was on JT3's staff at Georgetown) for the same position.

Crazier things have happened though!

I also don't want a retread head coach that failed in their last position, especially one that was at a school with far more resources.

I like it. I'm ready to get excited about Cox and turn the page.

But IMHO if Thor brings someone else in. Thor deserves deference, He got rid of Baron when people weren't sure it would happen then. And he hoodwinked Dan Hurley into thinking URI was a 3 year gig and jump to the UConns of the world. Turned out it took 5 years to get on the level and 6 for Dan to get what he wanted. Thor is the godfather in my book. All family business will be settled.

I like Cox’ potential upside so I’m not saying JT3 is a better candidate. But JT3 did make the NCAA 8/13 years including a final 4. If Ewing does that in the next 13 year span, that would be a big considered a big success at Georgetown.

To my knowledges, Becker has no experience even as an assistant at an A10 level. It would likely take him a few years to adjust and we’d lose momentum in addition to the recruits.

I would take Pitino as HC for 4 years with Cox as his assistant. Then Cox takes over. Of course if Cox isn't willing then that situation is a no-go.

I'm sorry but controversial or not Pitino is a great basketball coach and a great recruiter. I think he would be a huge boost to our program.

Somebody change my mind here, but I'm a Slick Rick supporter, regardless of how far fetched getting him here might be

If Cox is the guy who can keep the roster together, fine. He's going to cost less than what Hurley was making -- take some of those savings and spend more for a proven X-and-O man.

Little Ricky is a complete scumbag. If he were to get within sniffing distance of URI, they'd never get another dime from me and I'd burn all my URI gear, even it would mean replacing half my wardrobe.

When Pitino was fired they were briefly discussing it on WEEI in boston on the Dale and Holley show and they were wondering if he would ever get another job and everybody was like "he's done", then Dale blurts out something like "I know a school that would hire him...URI!" then one of the other guys was like, "I think they are doing well right now and are happy with their coach" and some stuff like "didn't they make the tournament last year?", Blah blah blah...then they moved on. Obviously that sentiment was from the Harrick hiring and I'm not sure we want to reinforce it...There are some coaches that may be worth the risk, but I think he's not one.

I think the plus with Cox is if the roster stays intact, it will become evident if there are any flaws quite quickly. Namely, the play next year and the year after and next years recruiting class. It would be interesting to see if we lock up our recruits in the fall like we have been doing.
