Georgetown and St Johns will reload very quickly. Cooley and Pitino will get quality freshmen, transfers and grad transfers in year 1.

I can’t wait to see what Cooley does or doesn’t do with current PC players. Take some with him and that hate fire is fueled even more.

Will be interesting if Hopkins/Carter want to transfer, especially to GT, and get a waiver to play immediately.

Ooph! That would be some epic melt down city stuff right there for PC fans if they transferred to GT. Where’s the popcorn and my lawn chair? That would be a heck of a show.

I’ve been thinking the same thing regarding those two, but some reporter (maybe Rothstein) posted guidelines the NCAA recently sent to all schools regarding players that have already transferred and one item under a denial of waiver was a change in the head coach. If what I read is true, it seems like they’re trying to tighten up the waver process.

Dan Gavitt must have pushed through at this time to save PC from losing players like Hopkins.

I would think it would make more sense to do this before the end of regular season and before the rush of players start entering the portal so players can make more informed decisions.

The BE will be a wild west shootout for 23-24 and once again be one of the top conferences.
UConn, Creighton, Xavier, Marquette, and Villanova will all lead the way.
PC along with a new St. John's roster won't be far behind.
Matta also rebuilt the Butler roster, so the jury is out on them.
Georgetown should improve under Cooley.
SH and Depaul will pull up the rear.

Rothstein with 3 BE teams in the top 10.
UConn, Creighton, and Marquette are all loaded and capable of winning it all.
Beside them, both Xavier and Villanova are not far behind.
Also, look out for St. Johns with Pitino and a new roster.

It will take time before Cooley can turn things around and contend in the BE.

Not sure where else to put this, but I was hanging out with friends over the weekend and someone was saying how great and fun the Big East used to be with UConn, Villanova, Georgetown and St. John's. I started laughing - he questioned why. I said, "You do realize the teams you mentioned are all still currently in the Big East, right?"

With top player Freemantle (15 pts/8 rebs) probably out for the season along with another key returning player (F) Jerome Hunter out indefinitely with a heart issue that puts Xavier in a very thin situation up front.

I originally thought they would finish 6th BE just ahead of PC but now probably move the Friars up in front of them.

Yeah, when you have one of greatest coaches of all time currently at (BE) St. John's get some of the best transfers from the portal plus 5* freshman Simeon Wilcher, I guess talent trumps a lot of things.

Even at that many predict them to finish 5th behind, UConn, Creighton, Marquette, and Villanova.
Although still, no one doubts what Pitino is capable of doing.

Jayden Epps was recruited by Cooley at PC but chose Illinois then transferred to Georgetown. Epps had 46 points vs Wake Forest!!

The BE had a good night, winning all 3 of those games.

Of those three, Marquette had the good game with a road win. I didn't see it but Kolek had them in the lead pretty much from start to finish. I don't know how good UI is this season but they are usually very talented. They had a recent transfer problem.

Marquette is ranked 4th wow !

Dismal day as the NBE went 1-5 on Friday and also 1-5 against the spread

Not a good for the NBE NET

Only Villanova won against the spread being favored by 6.5 and winning by 17 over David Cox. Maryland only scored 40 points. Richmond's Tyler Burton led Villanova

UConn with Hurley has it going and will probably be favored again.
But Creighton should be up there again this season.

I read last night that the NBE Commish is pushing back on the potential House case settlement being floated in the media.

She is pushing back because she does not believe that the share the NBE would have to pay isn’t justified since the NBE doesn’t have football.

She appears to be threatening a lawsuit if the amount the NBE would have to pay isn’t revised.

I would think the A10 would join the NBE in the lawsuit if it comes to that.

Has anyone here seen the potential settlement?

Any thoughts on the stance of the NBE Commish? Imho, at first glance she makes a valid point.
