Friday night we get UMass Lowell at home, then Monday night we travel to #16 Providence. Two great chances to see the team if you're not going away for the weekend!

oh for sure... Tying Penn State should get us votes and then beating Hofstra AWAY should 100% get us in the top 25.

2nd goal was brilliant.
Hofstra foul causes Oystese to hit the deck, and he falls on the ball and grabs it...
Except it's not called a foul. Handball, free kick Hofstra.
Oystese is pissed, slams ball on turf, gets booked.
Hofstra restarts by kicking it forward across midfield, except the next player to receive it does nothing and it stops.
Maybe he thought that play hadn't been restarted and HE was going to take the kick. But the clock had resumed running after the caution.
Oystese looks at ref, says "it's live, right?" He runs in, steals the ball, takes it 60 yards and beats the keeper.
Check the replay on Flo. It was in the 2nd minute of the 2nd half.

You are correct Rudder. Very heads up play by Oystese.

Here is the description of the play/goal in the GoRhody game summary:

The Rams doubled their advantage in the 47th minute, on a heads-up play by Isak Oystese. After a yellow card was issued to Oystese inside the center circle, Hofstra was setting up for the restart. Mason Tatafu appeared to be the one who would take the free kick, however after the official blew his whistle to resume play, Tatafu tapped the ball forward - attempting to steal a couple yards - and advanced up the field, leaving the ball for Stefan Mason. Mason stood above the ball to allow the Pride to organize, but seemingly was unaware that play way live. Oystese then rushed to the ball, tapped it past Mason, took off down the field and beat Speel 1v1 to put Rhody ahead 2-0.

That goal was fantastic. Idiot Hofstra player rolls it forward on the FK (which he obviously can't do) and then Oystese takes advantage. This is why he was rookie of the year in the A10 last year.

Where do you guys look for rankings? I don't see pc ranked and I don't see us getting votes after tying PSU and beating Hofstra away.

The NCAA seems to only recognize the United Soccer Coaches for rankings, so I've started using them.

https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/ranking ... aa-di-men/

PC (#16), Hofstra (#17), and Penn State (#21) were all listed in the pre-season top 25. Out of those 3, only Hofstra is still receiving votes in the week one poll which is based on games through Sunday

It’s become a nice tradition for all the dorms to come out for the first home match. The stands are packed on a beautiful late summer night.
Bad start though, 1-0 Lowell in the 3rd.

FYI for those not aware, the NCAA makes yet another lousy decision and eliminated overtime for Soccer this year. It has been two overtime periods prior to this year. So last night's match ended.

NCAA football: you have to play infinite overtimes in which it becomes increasingly unlikely that you will get a game-ending defensive stop

NCAA soccer: sorry, you have to make out with your cousin

This camera work is awful. When the ball is on the camera’s side of the field you can’t see anything that’s happening. Cameraman is also moving at 2 MPH.

That is getting questionable. Preseason BE favorite PC is now 1-2-2 despite playing all but one game (@Fordham) on its campus to date. Only win was over Siena. Losses to Colgate and Brown and ties with URI and Fordham.

I kind of suspect that in the sports with less media attention or long-time historical trends (i.e. Mount St. Charles level dominance), the preseason predictions are probably worse than other sports.

It's also soccer whereby goals are not scored in large numbers. In addition, the NCAA eliminated Overtimes for this season - previously there were 2 Overtime Periods of 10 minutes each so potentially a soccer game could extend from 90 minutes to 110 minutes.

PC could very well still win the Big East in the Post Season Tournament

I look at this website:

http://rpiupdatemenssoccer.blogspot.com ... d.html?m=1

Not sure how it fits into the whole at large consideration for the soccer tourney, but it’s easy to use website and is updated frequently. Rhody has worked their way up to 38, not bad seeing their two best players have been out most of this season. Regardless, there are not many chances to beat anyone ranked above them in the RPI as they play out the rest of the schedule. Good thing is that the A-10 is up to the #4 ranked conference. This is a very high ranking for the A10 when reviewing their rank over past seasons.

I feel like if Rhody beats Fordham, Albany and Dayton, they'll be receiving votes in the united soccer coaches poll.
