I think Reef agrees with you and that they shouldn't be getting votes, but I could be wrong. I agree with you they don't deserve any respect yet based on their woeful OOC.

Yes according to the AP poll Duquesne is ranked 37th in the country I think we all agree that’s a joke right now

Me personally, I don't feel that way. IMHO, Duquesne has done nothing this season, outside of their home win over St. Louis. They do have a 2nd Q2 win in Indiana St., but with Indiana St.'s NET of 98, that could go either way. So they've played no Q1 games, are 2-0 in Q2 games (with Indiana St on the fringe), and have 2 bad losses, against a schedule ranked 268th in the country, and I'm supposed to feel bad about them struggling to get votes? No, I can't do it. If they go 19-2 with wins over URI on the road and Dayton at home, I'll say they very well could be for real, but you can't play 8 Q3 games and 7 Q4 games to date (out of 17 total games), and cry about disrespect. They have beaten a lot of bad teams which while that might hurt their SOS with the NET, also helps efficiency, MOV, win percentage, etc. IMHO, Duquesne has to play well tonight to show they at least belong and aren't just a paper contender.
Heading into the 18th game of the Season Today:
Duquesne NET = 55
URI NET = 62

Cannot take any team with an NET of 55 lightly this far into the season

We only play Duquesne once. The winner of this game has the tiebreaker advantage going into A10 Tournament Seeding. Critical Must Win Game.

If I were a Duquesne fan I would be livid with their OOC schedule. A better slate could have put them in position for an at-large bid. Instead, they pretty much have to win the regular season title to even be considered.

But the are #55 NET and if they win tonight they will jump with a Road Win vs #62 NET URI

If Duquesne keeps winning the BET will rise more

Andy Katz has Duquesne in his Top 35 Teams at #35

I’d not say Duquesne must win the A10. A #55 NET is not bad at 30% through conference play

Duquesne not only played a weak OOC schedule, their A10 schedule is backloaded. If they don’t win tonight I could see them losing 6-7 conference games. Per KenPom their SOS is currently 301st. Their OOC SOS was 321st.

Still think Richmond was the worse of the two losses. We will be competing with them for a Top 3-4 spot and now they have the tiebreaker on us. Also would have been another Q2 win.

GW yikes. Thought Fordham might go winless.

Everything else in the league tonight went as expected (I expected Davidson to beat SLU at home).

I've been watching them recently and they are really firing at all cylinders. One of the most explosive offensive teams in the country.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if they end up a quad 1.

In Wednesday's games URI OOC partners went 3-2 with nice wins by Western Kentucky, Nicholls, and Alabama. Could have been better, but Manhattan suffered a tough 2 point OT loss to Marist.

A-10 went 6-6 on the evening. :D :D :D

To preempt any talk about how we aren't near the bubble so this doesn't matter, ESPN's projections which run off of its BPI and SOR (strength of record) metrics now projects us in the field as a 12 seed.

The season isn’t over yet. It could still end up being kind of a latent dagger since who knows exactly where we will be on selection Sunday. But for now it seems like the win at VCU and the brilliant second half last night have done a ton of work for us and overcome the Brown debacle - at least for now.

The modified bandwagon rolls on.

I hold my stance that until we beat Dayton and avoid a Q3/Q4 loss we’re not “in” - so I’m just focusing on winning conference games and getting the double bye on the tournament.

That said, if Bama becomes a top 25 team and Q1 win - along with a few other Q2 wins that can hold - we may just need to avoid the land mines.

I think its the latter Blue. Obviously a Dayton win would be huge. But IMO finishing 2nd is what is tantamount to feeling good heading to Brooklyn.
I feel the national media attention the league got during OOC, the performance of Dayton, and the half dozen teams in the Top 75 NET are going to have the committee feeling like the league has earned at least 1 if not 2 auto bids (beyond Dayton). Beat SLU, sweep VCU, finish in 2nd, avoid landmines and I'd feel pretty good heading to Barclays.

I think we're saying the same thing with different verbiage. But I wholeheartedly agree. If you do enough to earn the #2 in the A10, regardless of who you beat, we should be in a very good position.

I think a Dayton win (while avoiding Q3/Q4 losses, essentially winning out at home) would move us to the "in" category. Hence why the bubble talk doesn't woo me at the moment - I'm more focused on the #2 seed in Brooklyn. Hence all of these "must win" tags on the games.

The NET will take care of itself if our good wins can keep winning (Bama, Duquesne, PC, North Texas, Davidson, WKU).

Except everyone has a "Brown game" this year. The margin for error is razor thin and we can't afford a 2nd, but NET helps to account for those type of games.

Very obviously with the NET in the 50s and a first four out tag on a couple bracketology sites, we've very much back in the hunt.

Definitely in the hunt. Just comes down to winning the games. I think it's going to be clear cut whether we're in or out. I get that the NET/BPI/KP/WTH et al are fun to follow, but at the end of the season, I believe we'll know before the TV show.

Definitely do not want Richmond to win.
Rhody fans should be hoping to finish in second place regular season. If somehow we got by Dayton that is gravy on top of gravy.
We are competing with Richmond and VCU for an at large spot. Any big win by either of them (beating Dayton) hurts Rhody’s at large chances.

This x1000. I thought I was super optimistic but if anyone thinks URI has a shot at finishing ahead of Dayton.... hoo boy.
