It’s getting so bad with the starts that I have to put a lot of this on Cox. The coach needs to have his team ready.
Cyril struggles when his defender is taller.
Rhody just isn’t any good.

Exactly! I know there's mental pressure, slumping, etc but could you throw up airballs if you played the game every day? Hard to believe no one gets very hot from outside....

This mess is on the coaching staff. I’m finished with all the excuses. Good coaches get more out of the talent they have, not less.

The second I saw DH as our coach, I knew he would be good and because of that I was willing to take the lumps along the way. I have tried to give every benefit of the doubt to Coach Cox. It’s not working for me. I am not optimistic about the future. I just don’t think he has it to be a championship coach.

The problem as I see it is we have a team full of guys that would be really good players on good teams, but we don’t have any shot makers, which you need to have to be a good team. There isn’t one guy who you can go to when you need a hoop; it’s all secondary scorers and no primary scorers. If I go back to preseason, the thing that I was wrong about that made me overestimate what this team would be is Fatts being a capable primary scorer (that and Harris being more ready). I don’t think the primary scorer is coming any time soon, either, so not sure how we’re going to get from here to where we want to be.

Also, I’m starting to wonder if there needs to be a shakeup on the staff after the season. Too early to give up on Cox, but not sure what we are getting from his assistants. At least Ty is recruiting. The other two...I see very little individual development and we are not a smart, organized, methodical team that plays with an identity. I don’t care how long a guy’s resume is, or how polished they are. We need guys on the bench that are either geniuses with the clipboard or skill development specialists. I’m not close enough to say what Sutton and Carroll are or are not doing, but whatever it is it does not seem to be working.

It's starting to get real concerning that we keep making the same mistakes. Doesn't appear to be much growth at all since the beginning of the year. No signs of an identity. I've been one of the more "give it time" folks on this board. That being said, I'm not seeing anything positive to latch on to.

I’m in agreement with you, I am more on the patience side of it earlier this year. I’m not “the sky is falling” but the progress has been really lacking. The past few games along with today have been going in the other direction. I’m still with Cox but man, i was expecting more out of him. Lately just a lot of questions

TP, I agree with you on the scoring. The other big issue is defense. You can’t give up 40 points at home to Dayton in the first half. URI was a good defensive team while Dan was rebuilding. They are no longer a good defensive team.
Here are some bad defensive results for a half - 53 to Duq, 46 to UMass, 46 to Mason, 49 to Bucknell. None of those teams are going to the Tournament.

Hammond better be the next Michael Jordan or next year will be more of the same. There has been zero growth or development this year! So glad we didn't waste the Aris scholarship on a guard who can shoot and spell Jeff. We have so many!!!

I was more proud to be a fan of the 2012-13 team that finished 8-21 then I am to be a fan of this version of the team right now.

I have thought for a while that the players didn’t get along with the coaches and vise versa. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see a couple of guys transfer after this season. It’s taken less than a year for this team to go from a great culture to a terrible one. Right now, Cox is in over his head.

Most of the players have lost their confidence and it has demoralized them. I don’t think knocking them down more will help.
The UMass coach took an interesting desperate approach this week. After UMass’ lack of effort against Fordham he took things away from the team - no access to the locker room, no practice at the Mullins Center etc. They responded today.
