The A-10 is presently 32-34 (.4848) vs D1 OOC teams. It really needs to improve upon this or its NCAA bid prospects will be bleak.

The league has averaged 3 NCAA bids over the last 18 years. The only years it had less than 3 NCAA bids, its OOC win % was below .555. It got just 1 bid going .406 in 2005 and .522 in 2002. It got 2 bids going .541 in 2007 and .555 in 2006. The A-10 had better OOC records than these four seasons every other year and sent a 3 or more teams to those 14 tournaments. While composite conference OOC records do not directly tie to specific team selections, they are a decent gauge for tournament participation.

Big game for Alabama, and for Rhody by extension, today against Minnesota. Minnesota has handled PC at the Dunk and throttled UMass on a neutral floor yesterday, so this game will be interesting to me on several levels.

Bobby Hurley's team should be ranked next week following a 16 point win over 16th Ranked Xavier on Friday.
Tra Holder with 40 points as Arizona State goes to 6-0

UMass up 10 at halftime against BYU. It looks like BYU is down a bit this season, but not sure they’re supposed to be down more than we expect UMass to be. Would be a solid win for Minutemen and the A10.

I’m convinced Arizona State and Rhode Island are both going to make the tournament, and the committee, who claims they don’t pay attention to “stories” but are probably lying, is going to have them play in the first round.

Glad PRT mentioned the Florida-Gonzaga game.
Just fun to watch.
That said, Gonzaga has nowhere near the talent
they've had in the past.

Not seeing Alabama/Minnesota on TV anywhere...anyone know if it is?
If no tv, with the 'crowds' they've been getting there...will be just like a secret scrimmage between two ranked teams?

They almost came back with three players on the floor?!

Tough day to be an Alabama fan. Lose the iron bowl to hated Auburn and have your basketball team lose a game because your whole team got ejected.

That Collin Sexton will be a handful. Thirty eight today.

Minnesota probably would have still won if it was 5 on 5. It looked like they weren’t even trying once Alabama was down to 3 guys.

they actually outscored them by 26-16! 'bama was down by 15 when they got down to 3 guys and closed to 3 and missed a shot with a minute and a half to go that would have cut it to 1. unreal. I wish I saw it.

2 bids for the A10 this season.....if we win the conference tourney, maybe Juan Bid?

At least our OOC opponents are doing well. Alabama lost that weird game, but that kid who got 40 for them...whoa.

We have some bigs that are going to be quite a handful for us.....especially when other coaches have had their chance to scout our frontcourt.

Cunningham, Aldridge, Bullock to name a few.....

Another bad day for the A-10 as the league goes 1-4 on Saturday:

Bad loss, choke job by UMass in their loss to BYU, 68-66. BYU roared out to 9-0 to start game but by the 10 minute mark UMass was in control of game leading by upwards of eleven points. The Minutemen led by 10 with 4+ minutes left in game, but then aided by some good shooting and UMass turnovers the Cougars got back in game which they won on big dunk. UMass did have once last shot, but a Luwane Pipkins three point shot went off the mark.

Davidson losing to Appalachian State, 78-62, was another bad loss for the A-10. The Wildcats never led in this game and were behind by double digits most of the time, though they did rally in the second half to close to within four. Davidson was 9-33 on their trademark focus on three pointers.

In a closely contested game, Richmond lost steam in last five minutes to lose to undefeated Georgetown, 82-76.

Trailing at the half Dayton came out charging in second half on a 13-0 run to take control to beat Akron, 73-60. Josh Cunningham had 20 points and 16 rebounds to highlight the Flyers' effort.

TCU beat St. Bonaventure, 89-79, to take the Emerald Coast Classic championship. The scrappy Bonnies kept in close in the first half, but the absence of their leading scorer, Jaylen Adams, hampered the effort.

In Sunday A-10 action:

Manhattan at Fordham. 2 PM.

Saint Joseph's versus Sacramento State in the Wooden Legacy at Fullerton, CA. 2:30 PM. On ESPN3.

Temple at La Salle in a Big Five match-up. 5 PM. On NBCSN.

The A-10 is presently 33-38 (0.4648) versus D1 OOC opponents. It is the 11th ranked conference in the RPI. It however has played the 3rd most difficult schedule thus far (1 SEC / 2 BE).

Rpiforecast projects St. Bonaventure will have an RPI of 77, Dayton will be 86 and Davidson will be 88. We play all three home and home.

Kenpom.com has St. Bonaventure 75, St. Joe's 76, Davidson 85, and VCU 93. We play St. Joe's and VCU once each

It’s tough to lose two starters and win...

The A10 without EC, Jaylen Adams, and Charlie Brown is way less interesting.

Looks like Joes will hang on after coming back against Sacramento State. Sac St is 1-5, soon to be 1-6, so not exactly a signature win but it's still better than a bad loss.

Saint Joseph's pulled out the win, 74-69 over Sacramento State. Behind most of the game the Hawks took the lead with 5 minutes left on a trey by reserve forward Taylor Funk. Funk's heroics continued as he put in two more threes and a lay up, scoring 11 points in the last five minutes to seal the win.
