Hate how the Journal always list PC first. Their fans must be pissed to see the Journal make a big deal about Pitino though lol.

Swider is apparently going to UConn's late night madness tonight and not URI's.

Swider did go to UConn's First Night but they hosted a couple entire AAU teams, there's a chance that's why he was there and not at URI. Which he goes to next year is far more important, imo

100% agree. I wonder where he is leaning this early however..

They should be all over this guy. If AJ Reeves goes to UConn (247sports says 9-0 UConn), they'll have him, Adams, Larrier, and 4* Jackson taking up the 2/3 spots. They would have a serious logjam from 1-3. We have a big opening at the 2/3 - he'd probably start right away (like JT).

I'm just guessing, but if Cole decides to play locally, I think he prefers PC right now. Of course, there's plenty of time for that to change since he still has two years of high school ball left.

What makes you say that? PC has a lot of wing players already.

He seems to be a PC fan. Of course, that doesn't mean that's where he'll go. Like I said, a guess. As far as what PC has now, remember, Cole is an '18.

Both Swider and Duke were seen behind PC bench last night....
Hurley needs to get these kids behind our Bench for some of these games

Yes I saw Swider exiting the arena after we played Duke.

Now here's the scoring wing we need! This kid is going to blow up this year. It would be awesome to get an early verbal. Lights out shooter who continues to develop an all around dominate game. His teammate Goodine is dynamic as well.

Nice to see someone here with good knowledge of New England prospects. It's a very talent rich area. Look forward to your input on these kids.

We need scorers...and shooters.......consistent scorers and shooters......we still are shooting challenged, especially in games against better teams.....oh to have a go-to guy when it's crunch time.....

Swider is one of the best shooters in the country, range well beyond the 3 pt line at 6'8".

I think this weekend is a big weekend. Hey he spotlight for the rivalry, of which he's being heavily recruited by both, as well as the Zero Gravity Prep Showcase taking place at St Andrews. His first game won't have either program represented because it's at 4pm, but I wouldn't be surprised if Sunday's is filled with CBB coaches.

Cole is a helluva player, he needs to work on scoring off the bounce a bit more and his rebound positioning, )75 he's gonna have his pick when all is said and done. He looked good with what he does well right now, but at times tried to do too much while playing in front of Friar head coach Ed Cooley.

Don't get anybody started. There's a good reason they couldn't get someone all the way to Barrington from Kingston.

He had 22 points in Sunday's win

NRF,
Were there many college coaches in attendance?
I saw Swider in AAU and quite frankly was not impressed. He came off the bench and was not very active or physical. I know this is summer AAU ball and he is young. I also know that players can improve rapidly but also they can p
Plateau early on. What is your take on Swider - do you see him as having a lot of upside potential? how good is his 3 point shooting?

Ramster, this is what he did Saturday afternoon in in the tournament. It was at the same time as the URI/PC game, so PC obviously didn't see this one...
Tim Glover ‏@nxtlvlhoops · Dec 3
Cole Swider @coleswider21 with 29 points/15 rebounds vs Loomis Chaffee on Sat.

PC was there to see him yesterday in this game...
Zero Gravity BB ‏@ZeroGravityBB · Dec 4
@SASRIAthletics guard Cole Swider is our #PrepClassic #ZGPOTG contributing 22 points in the big win over Salisbury @NERRHoops

Take my word for it, he's really good. And he's only a junior and possibly still growing.

BillyBoy,
When I saw him he was playing up in age class with the 17U so it is very hard to judge players, especially when they are still going through a lot of growing. Plus just the fact that he could be asked to play on the 17U team says a lot.
I knew he had 22 on Sunday.......it was in the attachment I put in.

But those are good numbers for sure. He may get our of the reach of URI and PC for that matter, maybe going high P5?
I have seen Cooley spend a lot of time recruiting kids, especially New England kids the past few years and he has lost some, but he does attend a lot of their games. He really wanted Abu who went to NC State.

Billyboy is spot on. Swider doesn't play with a terrific point guard during the prep season or the AAU season. If he was playing with Wabissa Bede/David Duke or Marcus Zegarowski people would truly see how good he is. PC obviously didn't see him Saturday, but they watched Cushing, left to practice and came back to specifically see Cole play.

Brown head coach Mike Martin was also in attendance.

37 points and 18 rebounds vs. a very good team from Connecticut last night. Scored 27 in the 2nd half to erase a 20 point deficit and win the game.

Exactly and it was great for him to see the atmosphere before the game with the senior recognition, the game itself, the halftime recognitions, the overtime, and the post game celebration. Also good for him to see how well he could fit in to fill our 3 point shooting needs.

We need to get to St. Andrews this year in our Rhody gear. Oh, Cole scored 45 in this game. Yes, it was an all-star game and I'm sure not much defense was played, but still....next highest scorer had 29.
Bill Koch...
Quite a few Providence shirts/hoodies in the crowd at Portsmouth (no coaches). Common sight when Cole Swider plays. Friars fans not subtle.

How great would it be to get a top quality local kid on

Hasn't happened since Jeff Kent, unless you count

Good. Let's put him to work! We should recruit Cole's sister for the women's team too. She's the star of the Portsmouth High team, only a sophomore and I hear she's 6'4" now.
