Game #4: URI vs. #11/12 Kansas - GameDay!!

just put some good money on URI +8. Soooooo pumped for this game tomorrow, I'll probably put some $$ on them to win straight up as well because i like our match up. This Kansas team hasn't found their identity yet and has no true go-to player when scoring is needed. Of course, we'll need to stay out of foul trouble down low. Only way I can see us losing by more than 8 is if Kansas runs a zone against us which is what I'm really scared of.

Will be interesting to see what starting lineup Self goes with.
Terrell will possibly cover Selden? - they know one another from AAU ball in Massachusetts
Martin will probably cover Oubre who is certainly a handful - great test for Martin
Mykhailiuk will likely be in the starting line up based on recent games and how well he has played

Going to be a great game. Not very often in URI's history have they had opportunities to play Top 10 Teams this early in the season and on nuetral courts. On top of that we have a very legit chance to win - which has not been the case in the gap in our basketball history between Harrick and Hurley.
I think Mathews gets hot today from 3 point land as does Garrett. It either or both happen to hit their 1st 3 point attempt then watch out as their confidence will sky-rocket.

Speaking for myself, this is the first time I've been on the board all day. Cooking/Traveling/Seeing Family is definitely a priority pre-game for me. Just got to settle down with a brew and catch the 2nd half of Santa Clara. Not too worried about the lack of chatter today, should be the one day where family is number 1 over the Rhody board. However, once that ball tips, all eyes on our boys. GO RHODY!

ATP we lit up like 51 pts in the second half of the game. "Rhode Island was unconscious" was the phrase I loved the most. Let's see a repeat!!!!!!!

Was on a red eye to Puerto Rico to celebrate Thanksgiving with the in-laws. Now at the hotel bar watching the game in my Keaney blue.

I think this is going to be a theme this year. We could upset a more skilled team, but not a more athletic team. We just won't be able to outshoot anyone.

We just aren't there offensively yet. We won't be able to score against good teams. We have athleticism and raw talent to beat bad and average teams - enough to win 17-20 games, probably - but we lack explosiveness and ability to score with a good team.

We just don't look like we know what we are doing when we are on offense. Like ever. Been that way for three years now. Happy about the defense, but goshhh could we just not get embarrassed like this on national TV? Really hoping we can make some kind of comeback, get something going.

Wow! This stinks!
Jsust turnovers, easy baskets for KU, unguarded 3s all over the place,
lousy decisions by EC. Terrell all alone a few times, EC gets squashed,
instead of making the pass.
Biruta playing defense, looking up at a guy dunking on him, like he did against Arizona last year.
Martin, invisible with one point. Both guys saddled with fouls.
Awful. They had a chance to cut into the lead late, and frittered away
several opportunities.
Let see if they play with pride in the second half.

Tough matchup for a first road game, everyone just staring at EC.

Even him not taking that 1 inbounds and running with it when he was in front of 3 guys.

To fix the offense I would remember that Gil could make a hook shot in a hurricane.

Then go from there.

Terrible, terrible work from all 4 guards that half. MGMT (is this the abbreviation we're going with?) all need to be better. Our half court offense doesn't look good at all.
