Based on the spread alone (screw o/u bets) (and basically anyone that posted on this thread):
I'll post the spread morning of the games (either from betus or covers.com) so that it will minimize how far the lines move. We can do this contest moving forward in 2 ways - either just keep track of everyone's record or have everyone start with 1000 imaginary credits and "bet" on the games here - with a simple 2:1 payout so that we don't get over-complicated.
Thoughts? Who's in?
1. I'm in on this.
2. Another site I post on has "vbets" with "vbucks" and there is a whole section of the board just for gambling with the vbucks (the "vbook"). Then you can use the vbucks to buy various trinkets and such within the site. It's pretty rad. Plus I have over 15,000,000,000 vbucks so I'm rich.

Went 2 out of 3 last night. Toledo and St Marys covered. Temple was down two with 20 seconds left and lost by six (spread was 4) or I would have swept. The dreaded backdoor loss.
Thanks! I didn't post it on here but today I got the Marquette / Ohio St game UNDER 150 pts right when it was released, and the line ended up moving down to 143 by gametime. The game's total score was only 87 points! Must have been the easiest win i've ever had
I haven't seen any other sites post a line yet. I'm laying the 5. Go Rhody!!!!
I'm assuming you got this line from covers.com
There was no line on yesterday's game. Covers posts a dummy line of -5 from Carbon and Spotsbook whenever there is no line on the game or it hasn't been released yet. For example, if you click on the Arizona - URI game today you will see carbon and sportsbook have a line of Zona -5, even though we know that number will be way higher when the line is released later today.
I asked my friend who lives in Vegas to drop $10 to bet that Rhody wins the NCAA tourney back in July. He has yet to find Rhody listed in any casino's sportsbook. To make matters worse, PC was listed.
Rhody was on 2 sites i know of for winning the NCAA Tournament, but right at the bottom of the list. For tonights game i'll take Arizona at whatever spread people decide, but in "real life" i placed a bet on Arizona -18.5. They are just too skilled down low (Tarzewski, Aaron Gordon) for us to guard them without getting fouled out. Gil, Big O, and Aaman are gonna have a tough time on D, but even more-so trying to score. I hate betting against Rhody but i do know this team better than any other team and i really don't see how we cover that spread. Here are my bets tonight if any of you are interested:
Bigger Bets:
Arizona -18.5
ECU/Duke OVER 161 pts
MEM/OKST OVER 155
Smaller Bets:
ECU +25.5
Norfolk St -3
La Salle/Penn St OVER 146.5

ECU +25.5 looking great. The O/U for that game....not so much.

Haven't posted in a long time but have been reading the forum. I thought this was pretty cool and will take AZ, mainly because when I bet Rhody they always lose. Hoping my bet changes the odds!
Welcome to the new guys. Maybe at the end of this everyone goes to a Rhody bar on an NCAA tourney day and picks up the winner's tab, while the rest of us become degenerates and bet on everything that moves, and laughs while our brackets burn after the first weekend.
I'll do the scoring with points so everyone can make sense of the standings. Claiming a bet will be worth 1 point (yay participation) and wins will be worth 3, so that someone who participates a lot will have to pick some wins to stay competitive. Losses won't hurt.
Ties for points will obviously go to those with more wins.
I can only count people who put in their pick on here before tip off.
Anyone can join at any time - and as I said we'll only be betting games with actual lines, so I wouldn't expect to see one for UML. TP as good as the pick em idea would be...it just seems like games without a line (unless you can find a verified site that will give you a moneyline) would be an auto-win for URI (you'd hope).
Everyone just put in your bets before tip off time per favore.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

And take an absolute bath on both of those?
There is clearly no line today.
Normally there wouldn't be a line for the UNC Asheville or McNeese St games however since the games are technically part of a tournament the books may make an exception and create a spread which would be considered a "write in" or "added" game. A lot of it depends on how big the sports card is on Monday and Tuesday. Preferably the books would like to offer as many games as possible so if those are slow sports nights they'll probably add them
My favorite uncle was a bookmaker when I was growing up which explains why I know way too much about this so stuff. Most important thing I learned was to never get too heavily involved.

Thanks for running this Blue Man. I'd just suggest to add half a point to all the games where the lines are whole numbers. This way it avoids pushes which make pools more fun.
