Weird, crazy shooting game

Purdue 15-31 for 48.4% on 3FGs and 16-33 for 48.5% FTs

Tennessee 12-24 for 50% on 3FGs and 14-28 for 50% FTs

Both teams amazingly only hitting half their FTs but half their 3FGs?? Go figure

I still can't believe I picked Purdue in the Final Four - one game away! Cline was absolutely ridiculous in that game! Any relation to former Richmond Spider TJ Cline?

I also don't really think it was a foul. I thought the kid had a point that Edwards kicked his leg out.

He maybe barely touched his stomach.

Tennessee has had a number of games end with foul calls this year.

Refs are so inconsistent with that.

Michigan State and Auburn very impressive tonight. As I type this Auburn hasn't won yet but up 10 late.

Either could win the whole thing.

Not handing this to Duke yet.

Rick Barnes is a moron. Calling that two-passes-and-a-timeout play with 2.7 seconds left? Idiocy.

Of course, since he used to coach that hideous, disgusting institution in the mental hospital, I was rooting against Tennessee.

Interesting games tonight
Texas Tech - Gonzaga
Purdue - Virginia

Both games are the 3-seed vs the 1-seed
Both games have the 1-seed favored by the same 4.5 points

Texas Tech and Purdue are both very dangerous teams, capable of the upset

I’m guessing Texas Tech and Purdue both win tonight

Its occured to me, after the last month, that I am certain that college basketball is EASILY the most exciting level of sports EVER.

It's not really close.

NFL is great!
College Football is great!

But the level of drama and pure amazing in college basketball is totally unparalleled.

The games are way shorter. Faster paced. More storylines. So much more intense drama.

This. All. Day.

Not to "toot my own horn" or anything, but I realized this at a very young age. It did help that I had season tickets to Rhody since I was old enough to walk, and got to see some great games starting around the late 80s. And that basketball was easily my favorite sport for as long as I can remember.

There is no sporting event that remotely compares to March Madness. In my opinion at least. Especially the first weekend. 48 games of pure "madness" in that weekend alone. If you all ever get a chance to make it to Vegas for the opening weekend of the tournament, I would highly recommend it.

Only this year there was not much madness in the first weekend, but this past weekend has made up for it big time!

Yeah, fair point. I just meant in general though on a year to year basis, not just one year in particular. But you're right, this weekend has been quite a bit more exciting than the first weekend this year.

Watching that game, Zion as good as he is, was allowed to bull his way to the hoop all game.

Best elite 8 ever!!!!

Each game was soooooo high level!

Hope the final 4 takes it to an even higher level.

Best thing about it is

NO BLUE BLOODS.

Only Michigan State has won a national championship.

Crazy that UVA could win a title.

Even crazier that Texas Tech or Auburn could win it.

Dave Laieto and DePaul defeats Brian Gregory and South Florida in OT at DePaul tonight to even the Best of 3 CBI Series 1-1. Championship Game will be Friday night at DePaul once again.
Fun fact is that DePaul and South Florida flew to Chicago on the same plane from Tampa following Game 1 @ South Florida
The two freshmen for South Florida - Durr and Yetna, were the top two combined rebounding freshmen in the Nation except for the Barrett and Williamson combo at Duke.
Teams got chippy at times tonight so the Championship game should be interesting. The best of 3 concept in the Championship makes things interesting.

On Thursday night at 7pm we have the NIT Championship from Madison Square Garden Lipscomb vs Texas
Garrison Mathews has been outstanding for Lipscomb, especially the last 2 games, fun to watch

We should have been playing them in the final the year Gregory won the NIT.

That was the NC semifinal game where we went 2-6 from the FT line the last 2 minutes and lost by a point.

What a devastating loss for Auburn. Crowd is still booing loudly 5 minutes after the game is over.
In the last seconds as Virginia brought the ball up over half court, I thought it was a double dribble that was not called. No announcer said anything but now after the game they are replaying the situation and it is very clearly a double dribble by Virginia which would have meant game over.

If I’m coaching I’ll never let the opponent take a 3 with 2 seconds left and up by 2. If the shot hits the game is over and it was.

Was a shame Auburn fouled on the 3 point attempt and then Guy hits all 3 FTs. Terrible way to lose and not go to the Championship game.

Terrible also that they can and do replay all these possibilities and can change the call but on that double dribble they can’t. In watching the replay, the Ref was right there watching the double dribble but did not call it. I remember hearing the whistle and thought they got it, they are calling the double dribble, but it was the Ref calling the foul 2 seconds later.

Would have been most fair if Guy only hit 2 of 3 FTs but he hit all 3. Would have loved to have had OT decide that game.
