Many people felt like Akele would have helped us last year and Thompson was fifth in minutes on the team last year. And who knows what Silvario could turn into. And that's not even talking about the numbers alone

Have you considered therapy yourself? You continue to remind us all how stupid we are and how much we overreact to everything and how we have no clue what we are talking about, yet you still keep coming back around. Spending time around such a delusional and stupid group of people like us is probably something you should discuss with a qualified mental health professional as well.DC_Rams wrote: ↑5 years agoOverstatement of the fucking year!? Re: 2019 Offseason Discussion
Seriously, the comment that Rhody is hemorrhaging is ridiculous. I will take Jeff, Cyril, Fatts, Harris, Tyrese and Dana for continuity. Then add picking up Walker and Sheppard. All 8 of these players are better than any player lost in my opinion. The only debate would be Akele who decided to go pro (and would’ve made the same decision if Dan was the HC).

Re: 2019 Offseason Discussion
Players are on break. Classes start for the first summer session on May 20th. I would expect Sheppard and Mekhi Long to be on campus for the first session along with all the returning players. Not sure when high school graduation is for Hammond.
Practice will start right away. They can practice 8 hours per week for 8 weeks over the summer. They also do Strength & Conditioning for 8 hours per week for those 8 weeks.
The players have the month of August off.

Re: 2019 Offseason Discussion
I’m not going to get into who or who doesn’t need therapy here (probably shouldn’t say that as a pejorative, anyways - lots of highly functioning and smart people have sought therapy for one issue or another and it’s a perfectly fine thing to do), but I will say that while the roster turnover since Cox has taken over is a bit different than what we experienced with Dan it isn’t at all unusual in college basketball. Although there has been some turnover at the back of the roster, none of it has caused a reduction in the overall talent on the roster and, IMO, has actually bolstered it. So no concerns for me although on a personal level I won’t celebrate the departures of Omar, CT or Big Mike. Fine gentlemen all.

Re: 2019 Offseason Discussion
We've got a Bracketology update as of today. VCU in as the A10 auto qualifier and Dayton in a play in game. I think Maryland and Western Kentucky are the only other known opponents listed, but its very possible I missed others.
Enjoy...and keep in mind Lunardi is not very good at this.

Re: 2019 Offseason Discussion
I was off in earlier post on the start of practice. It could start as late as June 3rd. Many of the players take an online course the first summer session so they don’t need to be on campus for the start of session one classes. The incoming players are expected y June 1st.

Re: 2019 Offseason Discussion
Kind of strange to graduate just one recruited guy (Preston) and return only six guys that played last season. Somebody (Sheppard? Walker?) needs to really pull it together and get Jeff and Cyril back to the tournament.
(Yes, I know Will was on scholarship and Christion technically did graduate, so no need to explain that to me.)

Re: 2019 Offseason Discussion
I think you nailed it Ace, for this team to dance Sheppard and/or Walker will need to add the missing ingredients to the returning core. That plus meaningful improvement from Martin and Harris are the intangibles to our success this season. Pretty much know what you will get from Jeff, Cyril, Fatts.

I do a double-take every time I see a picture of Mekhi, thinking he’s a secret assistant coach or something. He has a mature look to him. Are there any pictures of their trip to the Children’s Hospital out there somewhere?

Will be interesting to see how Hyunjung Lee plays next year at Davidson. McKillop likes to recruit shooters and often with good height.

Toppin looks young and has a slight build. Looks like he needs to add some muscle. Tough IDing or getting a good look at the rest of the new guys in the video.

Are these practices with the coaches or do the Seniors run them? Is everyone present and accounted for? After Mading, I don't want any surprises (at least the bad one's).

yes they are practicing with coaches. I think it’s about 8 hours a week (I apologize if I’m off). The guys are here for both summer sessions and will go home in August before returning here in September.

Re: 2019 Offseason Discussion
NCAA rules for summer practices allow:
They get four 2 hour practices per week for a total of 8 weeks.
They also get four 2 hour strength & conditioning sessions per week for a total of 8 weeks.
The practice days are scheduled around any off campus recruiting times for the coaches (based on NCAA calendar).
Most of the recruiting time is Fri-Sun.
They accomplish the 8 weeks over practice over the summer class sessions. As TS mentioned, they go home for August.
