Love to! I might need some guidance though, anyone want to co-comish or something? I want to renew the league so we can get set to go, but we have to decide if we want keepers or not before renewal and I'm not sure how that process will work, anyone with any experience as a comish on yahoo sites is welcome to join in on administration.

Ew god no. ESPN is not a good fantasy site. I'm in another league where the commish insists on using CBS, which is also bad bad bad. Yahoo is the most intuitive to use, most visually/aesthetically appealing, best live scoring, and best functioning site from my experiences in a ton of different leagues.

I can help out if you nobody else volunteers. We should set up league voting on open items here on this board - seems more likely we'll get participation. What did we discuss last year as far as keepers? I don't remember our scoring system, but from what I recall it was probably pretty conventional and uncontroversial. Is that right?

Guess your experience is better then mine. I gave Yahoo a shot and then it crashed before I could set my lineup one week. NEVER went back...

Well if you only used it one time then I think you probably need a bigger sample. It also did used to be much buggier, so not sure when you last tried it. But even back then, the other sites weren't much better.

Yahoo all day, there live stat tracker is a game changer.

so the questions we need to answer are:

1) Are we going to have keepers (keep players from last years rosters)
2) How many keepers do we do? (1?, 2?, 3?, more?)


As for me I'd say have 1 keeper

I like one keeper and you forfeit the draftpick for the round that the player was taken last year.

Yep. And if you keep a guy who was undrafted you forfeit some pick....like a 12th rounder usually.

Typically also you can't keep the same player 2 years in a row (not that it affects this year)

I would agree with that

I like the "keep one guy if you give up that draft pick" idea. It rewards you for finding a good steal late in the draft, which is part of the fun of fantasy football, havin' a 12th round guy turn into a surprise contributor.

Ok I'm gonna renew the league with 1 keeper so the invite emails go out, it seems like 1 keeper is a safe consensus, but we'll do real votes in this thread for any other changes after that.

If everyone could respond to the invite by next week it would be helpful to know what the head count is so we can recruit more people. If anyone is interested in joining that didn't play last year, let us know so you can be next in line if anyone ducks out (as someone almost always does). If we do have to replace teams, the new people will inherit the departing player's roster.

TP have you sent the invites via yahoo? Please count me in, and my son is in as well (he played last year). So if i understand correctly, if I keep my 7th round pick I lose a 7th, but have a first rounder? might have to say goodbye to Demarius. is last year's stuff still on there? will have to look.

One keeper is fine by me, if you're looking for votes.

Correct. And Running Ram is the commish but he did send out the invite. What teams are you and your son?

I'm Paul's team if i recall correctly, and ready to defend my title! Think somebody gave me a virtual cup. My son's team was the Poltergeists or something unusual like that. I'll make sure I got the invite tomorrow, thanks!

if you log into your fantasy account and go to the fantasy football page and scroll down a little bit you will see renew team

your team from last year is there you need to make 1 player your keeper

hey TP can we maybe put something in the 'ncaa or bust' area for a couple of days that will direct people to this thread? just until the word gets out. I'll get you added as a league administrator. And as soon as possible I'd like to come up with a draft date/time that will be best for most people.

anyone interested in pts for return yards? maybe 1 pt/25 yrds...?

I'm OK with any tweaks we do. Or can keep it simple. On the keepers, how do we know what round we drafted them in? And how would that be programmed into this year's draft? Couldn't find last year's draft in there. And sorry but one more question.... would we know draft position before keeping a keeper? could be a factor in the decision. I'll probably just keep my #1 from last year anyway, barring injury.

I'm hoping all those questions will be answered once I go through the actual process setting the keepers up, which I've never done before so it'll be new to me. Draft position, I believe we decided would be reverse standings from seasons end (that's after play-offs, not over all record)
and at the risk of being the guy that freely shares strategy, you should probably think about which player was best value from the particular round taken, in other words if your 12th round pick preformed like a 3rd round pick you're better off keeping him rather than a 1st rounder as you will get 3rd round talent and forgo a 12th round pick for it. As an example I have three guys who performed like 1st/2nd rounders last year, one was drafted 1st round, one 4th round and one I grabbed undrafted, you can bet I'm keeping the undrafted player. Players that end the season on a different team than they start are the cost of last years original draft position, so if you grabbed someone off waivers and want to him as your keeper its cost is the round they came from last year, if drafted.

We are up to eight teams. Last year we had twelve, right? We haven't heard from anyone to say they aren't playing, so let's figure out who those four are.

I can email the three posters missing to see if they are still interested. They would have received the renew email, so not sure how that will go. We have a quorum now so we can start talking about draft times. If we don't hear back from the other guys by the end of next week we will open it up to others.

Also, I vote no on kick return yards, FWIW. I really think the basic scoring settings are the best. The only change I'd make from last year, which we discussed during last season, is to use a FAAB budget for waiver claims (you have a budget and you bid on waiver claims, so it isn't random or standings-based, and instead everyone has equal resources and can value players their own way). I really think that is the fairest system. Does anyone else have thoughts on that?

I wouldn't mind a FAAB since it can be frustrating to see a guy you really need but see you have the #12 waiver wire

For scoring I would keep it like last year, it seemed to work well

OK you guys are in line. I'm going to give them the weekend to respond. If they don't, you'll inherit rosters in the order you jumped in, so the first guy to get in will inherit the roster of the highest placed finisher that drops. (This matters for your keeper.)

ahh nice of you to give them the weekend...you won't be adding anyone unless you add an email addy to the league site, I PMed you but I guess you missed it, the site won't let me assign admin access to you unless you provide an email address that everyone can see and use. I'm sure you can make up a new one that could be specifically for fantasy if you want, just gotta provide something. My snark factor is expressed with levity, I appreciate that you volunteered.

okay I think there's a break down in communication here, you have to add/unhide it to your profile on the league site, I can't change the status of other owners email addresses, hidden or otherwise, and from the commissioners page I can't assign addmin privileges if the email is hidden, as it is currently.

Also Last years scoring/seeding systems will be our baseline for this year, any suggestions make a poll in the "down the line" index.

I would like to make a small change to kickers scoring, adding negative points for short misses. I'll run a poll...

If we do get all the original owners back, I'd have no problem adding 2, BB and Joe and going to 14 teams. The only issue there is new teams will not get the benefit of holding a keeper. Anyway 12 or 14 teams are fine with me.
