That’s exactly what he was trying to do, but it’s too smart by half. Maybe if you’re up four and you have Fatts playing you can try that stuff, but in this case it was crazytown.

They've just gone into Baronball offense late game, no movement, just dribble in place and the obvious guy make a desperation play.

We had 4 freshmen on the floor most of the night, missing a major piece of our offense who opens up the floor for everyone.

The refs were hot garbage and we were on the road.

We’ll be ok.

Upperclassmen struggled. They have the experience and need to deliver on the road. Jeff and Cyril 3-18. Your three upperclassmen had 5 FGs in total.

If that’s a Top 4 teamnin this league we will be fine. Development of FR is exciting. Dowtin had probably the league’s best defensive player blanketing him all night. 5 turnovers for JD, when does that happen? No fatts hurt in this game at end we had 1 guy who could take his man off the dribble (Jeff). CT was just awful and this team can’t have a 4th year guy lay an egg like that, puts way too much on the Frosh.

watched the game on tv, so my apologies for not reading this thread...
but WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

1) No Russell, and the announcers didn't mention it a single freaking time?

I Still don't know why he dnp, but I'm too pissed t\right now to read any of the 200 posts...

and 2) That was THE WORST FUCKING CALL IN THE HISTORY OF BASKETBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, the refs didn't cost Rhody the game, but that dude absolutely fucking WAILED Dowtin's elbow.
And they called the foul on him. And the announcers agreed that it was the right call?

Here's a clue, dumbass!!!

If Dowtin misses a shot by 12 FUCKING FEET, he probably got hit on the elbow.

Really bad effort by them today. We cannot win without decent output from them.

Cyril 1-8FG 4-7FT
Dowtin 2-10FG 6-6FT 5TO's
Thompson 2-5FG 1-3FT 4TO's 5PF's

The game was there for the taking in the 2nd half and things were looking good with a 5 point lead. Rhody players however wilted in the last 10 minutes. Did not rise to the occasion. On to Richmond.

They absolutely need Fatts back. Dowtin looked lost running the point without him. Oddly tried to take over instead of sticking with what was working.

Now we see how vital Fatts is to the offense. His penetration, his scrappy DEF, and his vision. Granted this will likely shift the minutes around for the entire lineup after witnessing Tyrese and Dana’s progression. We will be fine. DH lost plenty of these types of games here and he was an experienced head coach. We played bad and should’ve won, with FT’s once again being the deciding factor. Again, I’m confident in this team.

This team can be so good and is right on the edge of having it going. I was thinking Cox was coaching his butt off right up until he wasn't.

I don't like the way the game was called but I'm very encouraged by Rhody.

Frustrating to lose a game that URI was in a great position to win with so little time to go.

As we all know it is tough to win on the road. Beat Richmond and it will be a good trip. They are obviously getting better.

I think the time has come for Christion to move to the bench and Tyrese to start full-time when Fatts is back. I still think Christion can be a valuable contributor and don’t want him glued to the bench, but his ceiling is not high enough to justify his minutes or his starting job. Tyrese’s ceiling is much higher and we need him to come close to hitting it to beat anyone good.

I’m all set with Cyril catching the ball at the 3 point line and trying to have him create.

He did that about a half dozen times and it was an utter disaster each time.

St Louis was ranked 15th for defensive efficiency on kenpom so this was always going to be a difficult game for us to score.

I honestly thought we played pretty well, I don’t think you can really point to the refs or free throws as why we lost either. Just two teams who are good defensively and bad on offense.

Despite his poor shot selection at times, this was a game where it really hurt to not have Fatts. He commands attention, he can create space via penetration, and late in shot clock he can help share the burden with Jeff. Jeff was so gassed, Bess was a beast on him all day. Game plan was clear from Ford, double all ball screens with Jeff to force ball out of his hands, and have his best defensive player (Bess) wear him out with aggressive on ball defense.

I thought the game plan, switching up of Defensive schemes and use of personnel was excellent by DC up until he tried to steal a quick blow for his best player in crunch time. I am sure he won't try to do that again.

On this night that had more to do with the other team, and being shorthanded with no Fatts and an injured Harris.

As I posted earlier both teams have similar defensive strengths. STL turned us over more than average and the Bilikens TO's were below their average. Bess was the difference on Dowtin. Whenever we score 60 or less points we lose. Five of our six losses play to that stat.

Really missed Fatts ability to penetrate and dish especially to Cyril for easy buckets. Cyril is like a bull in a china shop when going to the basket and got lucky on a couple of calls that went his way. When he gets the ball down low he needs to look to the corner for probably what will be an open shooter. The coaches need to get him to do this. It is like a black hole when the balls goes to him down low. This has to change.
Also, Martin needs more minutes and Thompson less. How about running a few plays where Harris gets the ball down and let him do something.

With Fatts out, it looked like it was St. Louis plan to take Dowtin and Langevine out of the game and see if the rest could beat them. Martin and Tate showed up. Thompson and Harris didn’t.

I agree with an earlier post. It’s time to put Martin in the starting lineup and bring Thompson off the bench to add a defensive spark. He’s just not that good of a shooter.

We need to build on Tyrese's performance today. Start him in front of CT. He is our best outside shooter. This is going to be a ~.500 season - develop players for next year. Stop grinding Jeff and Cyril into the hardwood.

I didn't see players standing around on offense - there is some ball movement and good ball handling among the perimeter players anyways.

I knew coming into the year that Thompson wasn’t a great shooter. I was hoping he would improve over his prior year performances. This year he is 34 and 26%. Freshman year he was a 36 and 33% shooter. Sophomore year he was a 35 and 26% shooter. So he really hasn’t improved at all, which is a disappointment. Time to try bringing him off the bench. Maybe that will help his shooting.

Desite the L, there was lots of encouraging signs on the court today. Martin and Tate are.going to keep getting better and better. I think we win this game if Fatts was out there.

There is no reason we can't finish top 4 in this league. It will set us up nice for Brooklyn.

I thought DVRing the game and watching hours later I could bring some kind of wormhole timewarp mojo to work. Boy was I wrong. Straight-up rock fight.

At least Martin proved me wrong and he can shoot the 3 just fine. Cyril was horrible, as was Thompson. I've seen enough of him as a starter, thank you very much. And Harris needs to get much more involved in the offense. He's practically invisible.
