We're also involved with #106, Jackson from Detroit.

Rod, this board has gotten so negative, I'm now considered one of the more positive posters!

Well, almost anyway.

I remain on DH's side, until or unless he can't produce the recruits that we so desperately need.

And I mean recruits that can PLAY, not just bodies to fill a roster.

EC and Hassan need playmates. Good ones.

I'd love to hear Devonte Graham's name come up with us again.....just some wishful thinking.

No.

No and also doesn't include whatever the chance is that Aaman is finished. Obviously they can't and won't even tip-toe near that one but it is something to keep in mind. Wouldn't be shocking to see them plan to roll that one forward no matter what since they may not know about Mike's situation until next fall and they'd have to sign three other players first to even get to the point where it is a factor.

Those 2 open scholarships will become 3 shortly.

I seriously doubt Hare is coming back. I think they've given him a drop dead date. That's in reference to what Dan told me last night. That date is before the end of this month.

They need to know about that scholarship, like SOON, so they can plan for next season, and recruit accordingly. That scholarship has been held hostage long enough.

Aaman's situation is in limbo, and isn't going to be resolved soon enough for the 2014 recruiting season, in all likelihood.

I also like the comment about the "wish list".

They know it, we know it.

Tells us all we need to know about what is here, sans EC and Hassan of course. Gil kind of doesn't count, since he's only here for one more season.

All three will be great players for us next year, with more help.

Sounds like Hurley's looking for a PG and a wing, both of them athletic shooters, and a big body.

First priority, as Hurley said at the Mews, is PG. Second priority seems to be a wing,
If they can get someone who can play the wing, they can move EC to the 2 and have him play 30-plus minutes there. EC will get more touches at the 2. Marqwell Jackson would be ideal; if they have to go juco, Devaughn Purcell would be nice.

I like Purcell a lot. I'd rather take the better of the two right now than put a premium on the 4 year player. I realize I am probably in the minority on that. If they evaluate Jackson to be better right now then obviously that would be great, too.

Also, I continue to believe that Garrett is in play, although obviously he is not a sure thing. I see zero reason why we wouldn't continue to recruit him and I've seen no indication from anyone that we have stopped trying to recruit him.

I'm holding out hope for Garrett. He's the one we need the most to keep this program moving forward.

Looking closer at Gerard Coleman's stats, in games he played 15 minutes or more he averaged nearly 13 points. He can score. He's not a shooter, though, so he's more of a third guard/wing player. He played less at Gonzaga as the season went on -- maybe they tired of missed FTs and turnovers.
I think Hurley is more likely to go for a fifth-year senior than a juco, so he can have that scholarship back right away and use it in 2015, which is shaping up as a good class.

Iggy, what have you heard about 2015 that makes you say it is shaping up as a good class? I haven't seen much about kids favoring URI, only that we are recruiting a ton.

Still like Aaron Brown better. At 6'5", he can play the 3 and SG.
Wish we had more than the names we've heard, to think about.
2015 is loaded at SG and forwards. All we have to do is get one
of each.
Preston has been on a couple of these kids for years. That's our
leg up on the opposition.

Agree Iggy.

As for FT's, we can expect good FT shooting from Garrett and EC imo.

Other than them, everybody is a crapshoot. Just hope Hassan, Gil, O, and Watson get it together.

RG, he means that there is a lot of talent out there in the positions where we need the most help, as in SG and wing.

It would be nice if we could get a couple of early verbals over the summer and fall, or even an early signing in the fall, for the 2015 class.

And Rod, Brown would be a nice get.

Xavier Cochran, a 6'5" swingman from Detroit. was at the
Detroit game.
He's a slasher, more than a shooter. Preston has been recruiting him
for some time. He's one of those players you hope will commit,
before his recruiting blows up.

We will sign someone. Hopefully good enough to help us a lot next year.

Transfer/post grad. Other than Gustys, don't see a 4 year player. Jucos also don't look likely now.

Do the names Matthews, Martin and Garrett ring a bell?

Sometimes I feel like if we don't sign a Top 100 guy every single day of the year the whole board loses their shit.

What do you mean? This program doesn't ever get good potential 4-year players!!

Except, you know, 40% of the conference All-Rookie team.

I really think that we have signings lined up and are now just taking the quiet approach until they can officially sign. I am pumped about Garritt and now we definitely need to land a scorere at the 2 or 3. I understand Gutsky would be a nice sign but we really need more offense in my opinion.

I'm just glad some of you all have names that have now been made public that you can go and research. This place gets cranky otherwise :-)

But recruiting never stops- whether the names are made public or kept guarded, things are happening.
