Well at least they are just sticking to "America" I guess. This way they can continue to allow in shitty schools from any part of the country.

They should just call the old Big East what it really is....
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
We're in the wild west of basketball now. Last conference standing....every team for themselves. Cue the music.

America 12 sounds like half of a football score.
America 12 Atlantic 10 (close game)

Especially if they abbreviate to the "A-12."

Re: Big East - Basketball Only Schools Leaving
Looks like there are some more holdups in the seperation ... The "new" football schools (Memphis, UCF, SMU) feel that all of the football schools should be compensated close to even, and not be left to only a 10% portion of the total BE compensation plan. Under the agreement reached the other day, UCONN/Cincy/USF would each get about $30 million each and the other football schools would split around $10 million.
I don't know how much of an argument they have, but it's a holdup none-the-less.

post deleted... ESPN shoddy reporting initially stated that X, Butler and Creighton had announced they were leaving their respective conferences as of this morning, but they forgot one little word.... NOT

ATPTourFan wrote:"Adding the new members -- Butler, Xavier and Creighton had officially withdrawn from their current leagues as of early Friday -- is among the immediate challenges for the new league."
So X and Butler are now "officially" gone.
Actually, not sure if that is what the article originally said, but it says Butler, Xavier, and Creighton had NOT officially withdrawn.
Of course, it's not that we wouldn't expect it to officially happen soon.

Ahhhh. Great, ESPN. Love how in the new world of online "journalism" you can just silently change an article to reverse a key bit of information. I suspected they missed the word "NOT" given the way that sentence was structured.
