Yeah, they needed that one. Very convincing win to. Glad to see the Huskies get back on track.

Brilliant move by Hurley to play PC in 10,000 seat Gampel Arena and have $2 beer night to boot.

With UConn athletics in such a financial hole, how did they manage to pull off a $2 beer night. I am jealous. I think it is a great way to put fannies in the seats.

What you lose with $2 beer and playing the game in Gampel Pavillion you far more gain by beating PC by 18 a d revving up the fan base. The opposite of penny wise - pound foolish.
Hurley gets it.
His two freshmen Alex Karaban and 7'2" Donavon Clingon held Bryce Hopkins to 0 rebounds and Croswell to 5 rebounds as Huskies dominated the boards 40-20.

I assure you they didn't lose a cent charging $2 for a 12 ounce can of Miller Lite. They didn't optimize profit, but they still made plenty of money

Reading their board, it sounds like unless the game is a sell out they lose money playing at the XL Center instead of Gampel due to the contracts in place with their version of the RI Convention Center Authority

It’s always a good thing to remind Friartown that they don’t have a D1 on campus basketball arena…

I love it that Hurley played the game at Gampel. With the beer and a crazy crowd.

Yea you showed them!

I would bet not one person in the athletics department gives two shits where their home arena is when they're something like 33-1 there the last two seasons.

UConn has won 4 straight and 7 of the last 8.
Villanova is much improved since the return of Justin Moore and won 6 of the last 7.
Should be an exciting game.

7:30 PM #14 UConn at Villanova FOX

Big win for UConn at Villanova 71-59.
Dan really has the team rolling right now.
I wouldn't be surprised if they ride this momentum to the BET title.

Alex Karaban and Donovan Clingan were named to the All-Freshman team, and UConn’s ‘23 recruiting class is 4th in the country. The current team is pretty good, and the future is bright.

As the tournaments approach, I am excited but also filled with anxiety, which is my natural college basketball state.

Future does look good.

They have a great run going into the BET and they seem to be healthy for the most part.
Should be an exciting tournament.
Xavier losing Freemantle will hurt their chances, not easy to replace 15 pts/8 rebs.
Especially when you have to win several games in a row, depth becomes an issue.

Now that the pressure is a bit off by getting that first win they could go on a run.
They have insane spurtability when firing on all cylinders. Iona and St Mary's for a Sweet 16 is pretty favorable draw.

Assuming he gets by St. Mary’s, he could run into a roadblock potentially vs Arkansas. UCLA or Gonzaga in the Elite 8 will be tougher and more experienced opponents but winnable games for his team though, I think.

He should be favored vs Arkansas then maybe it’s a coin flip in the round of 8.

If I recall SMC had a 40-39 lead with around 11ish minutes left. Then UConn kicked into another gear closing the game on a 31-15 extended run. Wow.

Congrats to Hurley on the Sweet Sixteen bid. Always felt like he was passing through URI on the way to high level success. No hard feelings about him leaving URI as much as I wanted him to stay.

That thing about the tournament wins was always my favorite to say to Providence fans before last year’s debacle, and now order has been restored. With Cooley gone, I don’t know what to do with all my petty energy.

Also, never change, Danny! This was from the press conference after the St. Mary’s win-

Whether the season ends tomorrow or later, it will be too soon. I haven’t enjoyed following a team this much since the 16-17 Rams (17-18 was great, too, but Hassan and winning the conference tournament and beating Creighton and all that was special).

(his media time was up, but he did find that reporter later and give a more complete answer)

UCONN to the ACC?

I think ultimate UCONN goal is to go to the ACC
It would be good for BC and Syracuse to have another Northeast school.
I don't know why the Big East ever took UCONN back in.

UConn hasn't exactly been secretive about it. Unfortunately for them the CT AG filed a lawsuit against Syracuse, BC, and the ACC when those schools made the move, so neither school has any interest in seeing UConn join them

Football rules college sports. Why would the ACC want to add another bad football program and further dilute itself? The only way UConn joins the ACC is if were to be gutted with the departure of several members.
