Ant played high school ball at Paul VI in Virginia. Kenny Johnson is a former teacher and coach at Paul VI....BOOM!

The thing that excites me the most about his offensive game is his passing ability. That's why Archie wants him to be a lead guard. He also LOVES to play tough, tenacious defense.

I love kids from elite HS programs -- Hutchinson (LuHi) and Davis (Paul VI) certainly qualify. These kids have played in high level games, faced stiff competition and have learned to be effective without being the best player on the team (defense, intangibles, playing a role).

A four-star recruit coming out of high school in 2019, Harris spent the last three seasons at North Carolina, competing against the best in the nation on a daily basis. Injuries limited him to 35 games over his three seasons, but he comes to Kingston with three more years of eligibility. A physical, aggressive defender who can score in a variety of ways, Harris is viewed as a primary ball handler in Rhode Island. Archie Miller is very familiar with Harris, having recruited him out of high school. In his time with UNC, Harris shot .478 from the field while playing as a wing.

"Anthony is a very strong-willed competitor and great defender. He is an attacking guard. Coming from North Carolina, he has had opportunities to play at the highest level. We are anxious to create a new role for him as more of a primary ball handler. He is a guy who can obviously handle the ball and make plays. He excels at breaking the defense down, but he also has the ability to play with other guys and play off them. He gives us great versatility in terms of our defensive ability."

How many years does he see Ant staying in college? With injuries and covid he's going to be one of the oldest players with 3 years of availability.

1. How did he arrive at choosing URI?
2. What intrigues him most about coming to play at the University of Rhode Island?

Sure. What were the fundamentals of his game that garnered him a 4* rating? Also, with the 2 ACL's how are those fundamentals impacted?

Does he feel like he's back at 100% from the injuries?

1. What does this scout think of his chances of starting from Day 1? If not Day 1, later in the season?
2. Who does this scout compare Harris to?
3. Was he surprised Harris picked URI? What do other scouts think about this URI selection?
4. Can Harris be 1st team A10? If so, by when?

Outside of questions about Harris...

- Who's the best player he's seen, in-person, at the prep or high school level?
- Who's a player he was *wrong* in his evaluation about?
- In his opinion, what makes the DC area a vibrant one for college basketball recruiting?

Is there still another summer session left? Or are they done until the fall?

It’s possible he had something to finish on-line for UNC before he can get on campus.

He has missed 7 weeks of practice with the team.

Kenny and Duane were on a flight with me to Charlotte this am. Not sure if it’s related. Might just be a recruiting trip.

I asked everyone I possibly knew about Ant's status, and I was told that he'll be coming in the Fall. Dk if that's true, but I certainly hope so.

Ya, I think he's 100% committed to coming here, but grades may have prevented that so far. We'll see. My guess is Bill Koch will give us an update tomorrow.

I would think that Archie knew all of this (whatever it is) before he signed him. He'll be worth the wait.

To miss the entire summer puts him way behind. Especially when the team started the summer with zero cohesiveness. He was the projected starting PG. To say this will not have an impact is putting blinders on.

Yes, agree with you about not having Harris available for summer practices and team bonding.

Not sure I would immediately pencil him in as the starting PG, he can also play CG.
I have a feeling Bray will get plenty of minutes at PG.

He'll still be with the team for almost 2 1/2 months before the season starts. He's already strong as hell, so I don't worry about the strength and conditioning aspect. And he might be the most talented player on the team. I think he'll blend in pretty quickly and be ready to go by November.

I'd be more worried if this kid were an incoming freshman with no D1 experience. I think Foumena will have to deal with some growing pains and won't hit his stride until conference play. Ant's coming from one of the best programs in the entire country where he had a decent role when healthy. Based on everything I've read, including Scott Brand's interview, Ant is not the pure point guard I thought he was. This leads me to believe that Bray has been given the keys to run this offense for the foreseeable future. Ant will have plenty of ball-handling duties, but I expect him to be a pest on D and play off the ball. Would I prefer that he be at a camp from day one? Of course... However, this team won't get genuinely gel until we start to play actual games. I think Ant will be one of the better players right away.

I am sure his conditioning and practice routine is fine.
Just a matter of him meshing with his new teammates.

Actually, Foumena missing the summer sessions is a bigger concern and our frontcourt is our most inexperienced group.
