But the way they've been calculating attendance this year, they'll probably find a way to count those free tickets as bodies even when they go unused.Rhodyram wrote: ↑2 years ago So if you go to the game against the list min scheduled D2 program, we’ll give you free tix to watch our mediocre at best team play another mediocre team at a later date…. Problem is many people that will end up going tomorrow are season ticket holders who already have tix for the rest of the year.

Was thinking the same thing. I’ll be shocked if this game is televised. Look for two Law and Order SVU episodes instead.

It may not be what the USA network wants but they have to fill the time-frame with something. If they want college basketball, they may have few other options with all the games getting cancelled. Besides, the tv trucks might have already been on the way to Kingston.

On this kick back and relax day, I suggest you all find a good college basketball game to watch while there are still some left to watch.

No way URI replaces an away conference game with a non D1 OOC opponent. AIC is not really a replacement of La Salle but a replacement of the Brown game. A replacement of the Charleston game is also a possibility since it helps URI get to the 31 game level, but this will only happen in an away setting with a top national D-1 teams where URI may be the "buy" beneficiary.

I guess it pretty well shows the respect we get in the coaching community.
I really thought he would get a Wagner, Rider type of team. Are we that good that no one wants to play us ?

Re: 1/2 | La Salle | 2:30PM (POSTPONED)
URI will not give those types of teams future home games in a series. It therefore has to pay a guarantee which could approach near $70k for these types of schools. The Brown game as part of a longstanding rivalry was not a guarantee game but part of a continuing home and home series. There was no money budgeted for another guarantee game this season (URI has been scheduling approximately two guarantee games in recent years and BU and Sacred Heart were most likely them this year). Rhody therefore did not have any money allotted for an unexpected buy game and got fairly local D2 AIC at a very cheap price (probably about 20k if I had to guess) as that is what it could afford.

The "86 scrimmage was vs the Irish Natl Team.
We did get Stonehill AND Assumption on the schedule that year.
And 2 years later it was US Intl at the Civic Ctr.

URI doesn't have to get to 31, but it is always a good idea to play the maximum allowed games. It also helps get to the 20 win level.theblueram wrote: ↑2 years agoWhy do they have to get to the 31 game limit?Obadiah wrote: ↑2 years agoNo way URI replaces an away conference game with a non D1 OOC opponent. Re: 1/2 | La Salle | 2:30PM (POSTPONED)
In just a few days URI went from having A-10 opener in a somewhat favorable home game versus Dayton, to a very favorable home game against La Salle, and now to a somewhat unfavorable away game against GMU. That sequence brought about the quick scheduling of AIC and the prime motivator was to break 19 days of inactivity and give the Rams some game conditions before they play at GMU. And AIC was the best they could do on such short notice and I understand the dilemma they faced.
So if you had a choice, would you take the AIC home game now and better prepare for GMU or would you go with a better home opponent (likely to be a lower level D-1 school) later in the season and face GMU with a layoff of 22 days.

Playing such low level competition only re enforces bad playing habits. The team would be better off scheduling some competitive practices with starting in the GMU game on the line.

At this point they just wanted to schedule anyone prior to hitting the road.
The players probably just needed to see some different faces out there and get a little warm up/ game action before starting conference play.

Folks, I'm worried this is a trap game. Although they haven't played against a Division 1 team since 2011 AIC is riding high after a 67-63 win over the legendary Goldey-Beacom Lightning Bolts on Thursday.

I would take the AIC home game. Players need to get a game in prior to GMU and Davidson on the road next week - two good teams on their own home courts.
Path to the NCAA is to win the A10 Tournament. OOC games are not as important as A10 games.
Like the idea of a tune-up prior to Wed GMU game.

El Ahmin is part of the elusive and rare 50/40/90 club.
50% from the field, 40% from 3, and 90% from the free throw line.
NEED him to be more aggressive and take shots in rhythm.

Re: 1/19 | La Salle | 7:00PM (ESPN+)
Season Ticket Holders – Season ticket holders attending the new La Salle date should use their original BROWN game ticket. Please Note: if you have mobile game tickets your old Brown ticket will now say La Salle with the new game date and time. So all you need to do is present the mobile ticket with the name La Salle and the game date of January 19 to enter the game.
