After pulling together 4 in a row, the TP bandwagon is pulled over on the side of the road, looking in the rearview mirror, and waiting to see if the team bus pulls out of the parking lot to head down the road to the tournament.
When I pronounced the season over, it wasn’t because I didn’t think that even at that point a 15-3 conference season wouldn’t be enough. It was because I didn’t think it was possible at that time. The VCU road win at least gave me enough pause to wait and see a little bit. I’m not suddenly convinced that it’s going to happen, but I’m more hopeful than I was then. I hope it turns out that I jumped the gun but I’m a long way from being convinced.

Duquesne at 15-2 (and no real home court to speak of) is at the very least a decent team. They certainly are not going to beat themselves so hopefully URI is firing on all cylinders. I don't even want to think about the consequences of a loss!
Ken Pom
5-Dayton
48-VCU 69-URI
71-Richmond 79-Duquesne
85-Saint Louis
100-Davidson
Bottom Line:
This is a Must Win for Both Teams
Especially Important since URI-Duquesne play only once - therefore any ties for the A10 Tournament Seeding between URI and Duquesne will be broken first based on who wins this game
Duquesne is not a team to be underestimated with a (15-2) overall record and (5-0) in A10 play
NET: Duquesne 55, URI 61
RPI: URI 34, Duquesne 65
BPI: Duquesne 63, URI 74,
KenPom: URI 69, Duquesne 79
In the past an RPI of 34 almost guarantees you're in the tournament. If it were 2016/2017 we would be in better shape....

I think a key to this game is the students packing out the Ryan Center.
I will be extremely disappointed in our school if the students don't show. This is the type of game we need the students to be hyped about.

They've been pretty good so far, when around. This will be a good litmus test being the first home game post-break.

Some hoped for 5000 vs LaSalle and we got 6300. Excellent turn out for a Saturday 12:30pm game. We should go well over that 6300 number with the promotions in place, students back and a (15-2) opponent in Duquesne.

Winter tailgating with heaters , beer tents and food trucks? Hell of an idea actually.
.......good thing for the Senior Nite game......couple it with a men’s/women’s double header......make it an Alumni event.......bring back a former player nite......OK, no more coffee....
36. Duquesne (NR): The Dukes are 15-2 overall and 5-0 in the A-10 (and without a home court since it is being redone). The Dukes will find out where they stand at Rhode Island this week.

Duquesne is a good defensive team and URI has not been shooting very well this year to date. Non-peaceful, uneasy feeling.
We are constructed pretty similar to Duquesne. Per KenPom, we are 145th in offensive efficiency and 38th in defensive efficiency. They are 129th and 54th, respectively. I’d expect this to be a bit of a rock fight, and the O/U reflects that as Vegas thinks this game will be played in the 60s.

And the difference between the 129th ranked offense and the 145th ranked offense is 0.5 points per 100 possessions. The difference between the 38th ranked defense and the 54th ranked defense is 1.3 points per 100 possessions.
The keys to this one will be turning them over and winning the offensive rebound battle. They aren't terrible at grabbing offensive boards and URI is seemingly allowing their opponents to grab their fair share of them.
