At 9:30 Xavier takes on DePaul. Xavier won both games, most recently winning Saturday in Chicago 79-65. On Xavier: (19-12) – The Musketeers’ RPI is decent, and they have just one sub-100 loss, but they are just 4-6 since losing Edmond Sumner to injury with three of those wins coming against DePaul and St. John’s. They get another matchup with the Blue Demons in their first Big East Tournament game, which is a must-win for Xavier at this point.

Xavier is on all but 4 brackets with an average seed of 10.73. A win doesn't really do much for Xavier, but a loss might just take them off the bubble and will at the very least make the next half week miserable. They won't lose this one though.

In the final bubble game of the day, at 11:30, USC takes on Washington. USC has won both against Washington, most recently Saturday in Seattle 74-58. On USC: (23-8) – A pair of Top 20 wins over UCLA and SMU are keeping the Trojans alive for now, but there isn’t much else on their profile. They took care of business against Washington State and Washington last week, but neither of those wins helped their case. USC faces the Huskies again in their Pac-12 opener, and a win gives them another shot at UCLA in the Pac-12 Quarterfinals.

This is another game where a win doesn't do much but a loss could be a killer. USC is on 126 of 132 brackets with an average seed of 10.9. If Xavier or USC could lose that would really help us, but just like in the Xavier game, we won't be getting any help here.

Lots of action today as several conferences open their tournaments besides the A-10. This includes the PAC-12, C-USA, SEC, Mountain West, Big East, Southland, Big !2 and Sun Belt. I believe the only conferences that have not yet opened are the American and Ivy League tournaments. The Ivy League is holding its first ever tournament at the Palestra in Philly on Saturday and Sunday and only the top four finishers in that 8 school league are included.

Patriot League title and twelfth automatic bid to NCAA goes to Bucknell as they beat Lehigh, 81-65.

No championship games until Saturday, since the next two days will be devoted to lots of televised action of games in the top conferences.

Markelle Fultz is out for Washington.
That should make it easier for USC.
The recent games missed by Fultz made a
disappointing season, even worse for the Huskies.

Here's an oddity with Xavier.
In their last 9 games they are now 3-6.
All three wins vs. DePaul!
They need to win at least another
game or two, it would seem,

Washington is up at the half 39-37!
USC closed out the half on a run though, so it wouldn't surprise me if USC gains control.

Can't find this game anywhere either.

Yeah I don't get that with DirecTV.

I just saw on the play by play that one of the Washington players just fouled and then got a technical, which turned a five point deficit into a 9 point deficit....

Just heard Bilas on the Mike and Mike show talking about Syracuse. He not only has them in, he has them comfortably in. He even touched on how good the committee looked by putting them in last year. Another element in favor of the P5 schools.
Just adds to my belief that mid majors have to play their way in, while P5 teams have to play their way out.

If the big conferences (including BE) can get 70% if teams in that makes it extremely difficult for any other conference to get at-large bids. We're talking St Mary's 1 or 2 A10 teams and possibly Ill St or Middle Tenn if they lose that's about it. That's the future.

cartels protect their own. its why the goalposts constantly move.

first we were told RPI is king, so the non P5 schools started playing the RPI game....then they switched and said, no its top50 wins, so non P5 schools started scheduling and winning more top50 games....next they'll say its Kenpom or Nolan Index, or whatever they can use to justify snubbing non P5 teams that'd bend their precious teams over a barrel

good things theyre hurting their own pockets with this. people tune into the tournament, especially the 1st 2 weekends for the upsets and cinderellas

If you want to see some great PG play,
catch Monte Morris (who we briefly recruited) of
ISU.
He's smart, talented, a leader, and a clutch player.
An amazing 6.2-1 assist to turnover ratio,
same as he has last season.
Probably the best player nobody talks much about.

First championship game today is in the American East Conference between Albany (21-12) and Vermont (28-5) which kicks off at Vermont's gym at 11 AM. On ESPN2

No. The America East Conference ranking at 21 is low. While Vermont has a decent RPI of 49, they are 0-4 in games against the top 100. Their SOS is 187 and that is a killer.

Favored North Dakota with a furious rally in the closing minute of regulation ties Weber State, 81-81 to send the game into OT where they prevail for a final score of 93-89. The Bisons take the Big Sky crown with a RPI 151.

Duke wins the ACC crown with a strong finish in the closing minute to beat Notre Dame, 75-69. Duke becomes the first team in ACC history to win four games in four days.

I don't know about the opinion of others, but if I was in NYC looking for some sports action I would have chosen Duke-Notre Dame at Barclays' rather that seeing Creighton play Villanova at MSG. A no brainer decision.

The Big East will not be able to hold the garden past the current contract. there are too many conferences that want MSG at least for a cycle. They could probably even cycle B10, ACC and BE every three years, with those conferences playing in their more "traditional" homes in the off years, with BE moved to Brooklyn
