Play golf in Plaquemine whenever we visit our daughter in Baton Rouge. Not much going on there, although there is a large DuPont plant that's either in Plaquemine or right next door. The biggest and only thing in the Baton Rouge area is LSU, LSU, and more LSU. I've wondered since we recruited Thompson why they had no major interest.

#32 ESPN Ranked Brandon Sampson announced for St John's today
He is the teammate of Christion Thompson.
Interesting how both Louisiana guys opted for the Northeast
Big Pick Up for St Johns

This was a recent article on how LSU was eliminated from contention leaving USC, Cal and St John's. Didn't take him long to make his decision after LSU was eliminated.

Lavin's club just gagged away a potential huge win against Duke today.

They were up 61-51 with 8 minutes left, and then got run off the floor and lost by more than 10.

The guy can recruit with the best of them, but he's not a good bench coach.

Stay on topic please. This is Christion's thread. If you want to talk St. John's hoops, there is a place on the board to do that.

Pretty impressive week for Mr Thompson. He got my vote :D
Not bad 8 assists and 4 steals per game :D :D
Christion is really starting to fit in at Madison Prep this being his first year with the team. Sampson was with the team last year. That was a big win against University Lab moving Madison to #1 Ranking in Division.
BRANDON SAMPSON - Madison Prep, basketball: Sampson was a key cog for Madison Prep, averaging 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in a trio of wins against Varnado, Southern Lab and University Lab.
CHRISTION THOMPSON - Madison Prep, basketball: Thompson was another reason for Madison Prep's successes, posting 17 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals per game in three wins for the Chargers.

Latest rankings now have Madison Prep #1
Classes 3A and below:
1, Madison Prep 23-1: The Class 1A Chargers are talented and deep and claim top spot after a Hall of Fame win over University.
2, University 20-3: Hall of Fame loss to Madison Prep proves the 3A Cubs aren’t invincible, but U-High remains among Louisiana’s elite.
3, Port Allen 17-4: Win over New Orleans power Karr in Hall of Fame game could raise the 3A Pelicans’ stature on the state level.
4, Episcopal 19-2: The 6-2A Knights just keep winning and are so fundamentally sound.
5, Donaldsonville 16-6: The Tigers of 9-3A may surprise some teams once the playoffs begin.
6, Brusly 16-6: The Panthers get overshadowed by 7-3A rivals UHS and Port Allen but are solid.
7, Glen Oaks 14-8 and Dunham 14-9: GOHS is another solid 7-3A team and Dunham is a game behind Episcopal in 6-2A.
9, Albany 15-7: The Hornets sit atop the 8-3A standings.
10, Southern Lab 15-5: This is a talented young team that needs to regroup after 6-1A loss to Madison Prep.

Below is from the Madison Prep - University Lab Game Summary. Thompson sounds great in his responding to the challenge in such a big game with the Stands Sold out.

Christion Thompson added 16 points. The Rhode Island signee scored six points in the final quarter for the Chargers (23-1), who were the 1A runner-up a year ago.
Thompson helped set the tone in the fourth quarter. A key point in the game came with just over five minutes remaining.
Thompson was holding the ball near the midcourt line when UHS defender DJ White came and slapped the court with his hands. Thompson responded by driving to the basket multiple times, including a layup on that sequence that gave MPA a 51-49 lead.
The Chargers never trailed again.
“(White’s play) challenged me,” Thompson said. “I wanted to show him, the crowd and my teammates I could do it. I knew I could get my teammates involved. It was about us wanting it more.”

The more I read about this kid the more I want to see him play at Rhody. I like his size and the fact he can shoot the three and take it to the hoop. Also seems to be very athletic which will help our press also.

I'm curious about the coach who said that their leading scorer "usually defers to our two standouts." One of the two standouts is obviously Sampson. Is the other Thompson? I would assume yes, but they have a freshman who is 6'6" and already a national prospect, Josh LeBlanc, who had 10 pts/10 rbds.

Thompsons teammate, Brandon Sampson, who was ranked #32 ESPN has reopened his recruiting with Lavin's firing at St. John's. URI would be a nice landing spot for him. No indications anywhere that there is any interest from either side in Rhody but since we already have Christian then why not?

Tough to decipher much here when it seems the entire starting lineup received an honor of some sort. Sharing MVP with Sampson cant be a bad thing tho.

Yes, considering Sampson is ranked #32 ESPN and this was already his team when Thompson transferred in for only his senior year it says a lot that they shared the MVP Award.
Thompson did everything for Madison Prep and he is going to be a great addition to our team. Likely to be yet another A10 all freshman team member.

The two videos I've seen of him show he dominates. The team dominates. Not sure he is challenged on that team.

I bet if he played at a higher national level he would be more highly touted.
