URI. Could be a good big teamed with Fuchs. Wait a minute he got buried on the bench here. Never mind.

Re: Where Are They Now? Former Player Results and News
The staff’s handling of Fou was frustrating to me from where I sit - which is not in the Ryan Ctr.
But, I get that it takes two to tango so I am frustrated with Fou that he didn’t exert more effort and play smarter.

Drums remember he was only a freshman and bigs usually take longer to develop.
I would have liked him to stay and wish Archie gave him a little more run.

I'm sure the college basketball world is eagerly awaiting where Foumena is going. On the edge of their seats.

Too bad - I had high hopes for him
This is the issue w the portal
Would have been fun to watch him mature like Hassan for 4 years

ECR, we agree on many things...Fou is not one of them. Seems like a good enough dude, and I hope he has a great career somewhere, but I'm not seeing that much potential. Then again, I've been way wrong before, so if he comes back to Rhody and stars, we can all be not surprised.

I hear ya - my post was poorly worded
Wasn’t trying to say he’d be like Hassan
But more of a nostalgic post about keeping a player for 4 years and watching him develop and calling him our own vs the rent a player every year BS going on now

High Point. Good level for him this coming season. He does well and he can move up in level for the following season.

The guys who underperformed or struggled here typically end up in a lower conference once they transfer. Good like to Fou, still think he'll be good.

Very random- former URI staffer under Coach Hurley Steve Enright is now the head coach at Keene State after a stint as head coach of D3 Bridgewater in VA. Keene State is considered one of the top Division 3 programs in the country.

I'm rooting for Dowtin but he's going to be 27 next week and has never carved out a steady bench role for an NBA team. I think his future is in Europe.

Philly has only Embid under contract for next season so I can see Philly resigning JD and possibly making him the back up point

Re: Where Are They Now? Former Player Results and News
Correct
The team holds the 16th and 41st picks in the draft. Superstar center Joel Embiid remains under contract and Most Improved Player winner Tyrese Maxey is eligible for a five-year max extension. Paul Reed and Ricky Council IV have non-guaranteed contracts. Jeff Dowtin Jr. has a club option for the 2024-25 season.

Re: Where Are They Now? Former Player Results and News
It is difficult for me to be objective with JD. He is one of my all-time favorites because of what he accomplished here and how he accomplished what he did here - hard work, dedication and humility - from my perspective.
That said, man, I wish he could play for the Celts. I honestly think he would be a very good and relatively inexpensive backup to Holiday. He could provide good D, some O and stability off the bench.

Now I believe all our scholarship players from last season who entered the portal have found a new home.

Will be interesting to see if he comes in as PG or SG. They lost a lot to the portal. There was a lot of talent there for them to be so mediocre. 1 tourney in the last 12 years. Their best season in the last 5 years was 17-15.Jersey77 wrote: ↑4 months agoInteresting, he traded up, curious how this works out for him.ramster wrote: ↑4 months agoGood for him. He's definitely a better CG than PG, but in an offense that doesn't want to run I think he'd be fine running the point. Not a great matchup of styles playing here, but I think most of us would've taken him if he had accepted that combo/6th man role in our system.

Re: Where Are They Now? Former Player Results and News
Kortright going to Wash is a prime example of "mid major coach taking over a terrible P5 program who will take just about any player with a pulse."
In no world is Kortright a Big 10 player. Couldn't defend A10 guards, going to struggle even more next season.

Surprised to see Hopkins still the coach there 70-84 in his last 5 years so I would expect them to struggle next year in the Big 10Blue Man wrote: ↑4 months agoWill be interesting to see if he comes in as PG or SG. Wonder is Kortright knew this acquisition was likely when he committed
Big pick up by Washington
$2 million

The other interesting thing to consider is how this stuff affects the team. I struggle to believe more than 30% that this number is real.ramster wrote: ↑4 months agoramster wrote: ↑4 months agoGood for him. Will be interesting to watch his play at the P5 level and with a new HC at Washington

For one, where’s this money been before? Washington has sucked for years. All of a sudden they have $2M for a player but never bothered in the years before? Maybe it’s true, but it probably isn’t. Let’s pretend it is.
If this kid has an off night or is dogging it, and another player is making like $100k - how’s that locker room discussion going to be? “You’re making 20x me why am I working harder?” Etc.
This sounds to me like it’s a total lie at best or a locker room killer at worst. No guarantees for success with NIL bags.
