Disagree. Do you follow any of PC twitter and the motley crew of posters who flood X? Lighten up. I’d rather see these than the 350th pot shot at Archie from Vault.
Just sit back and enjoy the show like Chris DiSano……

It’s very funny

I've lived in southern RI for 62 years but don't know what it is. I have to cross 2 bridges to get there, I think. And I used to bring my daughter down that way when she was little to Scarborough, Narragansett and Misquamicut a lot.

$2.7b settlement?

https://www.espn.com/college-sports/sto ... ources-say

“Sources have told ESPN that schools are anticipating a ceiling of nearly $20 million per year for athlete revenue share moving forward. (That figure for a revenue share is derived from a formula that's expected to be, per sources, 22% of a revenue metric that's still being discussed, which is set to be based on various revenue buckets. It would be up to the schools to share that much.)”

Important distinction here...this lawsuit and settlement will be about real NIL money, players actually getting paid, BY THE ENTITIES THAT ARE MAKING MONEY OFF THEIR NAME, IMAGE, and/or LIKENESS.... instead of this 'new fan-funded pie' creation aka:

ETA:
In juxtapositiomn almost too good to be true...next story:
Kirby Smart has received a new 10-year, $130 million deal that was approved by university officials Thursday in its annual athletics board of directors meeting.

LOL...where did that $130M come from? And, how much of that pot of gold are the players getting now?

I just received an email from Stone Freeman about Rhode to Excellence events soon to be happening.

Looks like they are having a golf outing June 3rd.

In the next 2 weeks there will be an exclusive digital call as well.

I think you will start seeing the fruits of Stones labor on the collective show up.

Good to see it is in good hands with someone trying to make it the best he can for Rhody.

"Our leverage is a big cannonball rolling down a hill and picking up speed," Berman said. "The longer they wait, the more they're going to have to pay. It's that simple."

"They've got stuff on paper," said an industry source. "This is not just lawyers and commissioners meeting and having a cocktail. This snowball is moving downhill. The horizon on this is about a month."

Big cannonball?
Snowball?

Which is it?

Or is it

Correct, ECR repeating himself a MILLION times about how he’s anti NIL, but others should donate, posting stupid ass irrelevant music videos does rub me the wrong way.

A self admitted troll, with no relevant opinions or basketball knowledge and just talks to himself repeatedly on here.

Didn’t everyone have to listen to you talk about Jermaine Harris for 3 years? I think if I remember ECR has a young kid/family which takes up time and I’m assuming since you post about 12-15 times a day you don’t have much going on with your life. If you met him in person you probably wouldn’t have the guts to say this to his face.

"Honestly, my advice to the young guy; unless you're a surefire, one-and-done, I'd probably go low-major or mid-major for a year because you're not, realistically, going to play... They're not going to pay them that money to sit them on the bench. As a freshman, you gotta realize that....Go mid-major, average 15 points, 5 rebounds and go get your two million next year and hopefully you have a great career and you don't have to stress financially."

Honestly I think schools like us should embrace that mentality. Come to Rhody, showcase what you can do for a couple years, lead us to the tournament and then go get paid somewhere if that's what you want to do (or maybe you even end up loving it and stay). Just like up and coming coaches have always done. Then replace those guys with the next batch of players that want to take us to the tourney and prove themselves. We need to find ways to make the current system work for us rather then the "poor us" victim mentality.

The one huge caveat with that whole story though is that the $2 million number is such an outlier. There will be very few players getting anywhere close to that number. I do appreciate that they talked about some players who said it's not always about the money to. Good to keep in mind.

I don't recall ever saying that if you are anti-collective, you are a sucky fan. So no need to get rid of a mentality that I don't hold in the first place.

Also, maybe we could get rid of the "if you are anti-collective, you are a sucky fan" mentality while we're at it? 🤔
I don't recall ever saying that if you are anti-collective, you are a sucky fan. So no need to get rid of a mentality that I don't hold in the first place.
Sorry, I was not referring to you...I know you haven't. I didn't think you had a "poor us" mentality either...jus' sayin' both of those are 'out there" and neither is particularly useful. 👍

Adam, I appreciate your line of thinking.

If the power programs zig then, we (non-power programs) consider zagging or a combo of zagging and zigging instead of copying them and trying to battle them dollar for dollar. Adapt and overcome.

That said, I don’t know how successful and how sustainable zagging or zig/zag strategies will be regarding obtaining NCAAT wins. The strategy could get us to the NCAAT but result in one and done whereas I would like to see NCAAT run to a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 before my window here closes.

All this zigging and zagging is making me dizzy. Ooph.

Good discussion. 👍🏼

Someone who openly despises NIL and refuses to donate isn't necessarily a bad fan, but their negative opinions are counterproductive and to some extent I think you lose ability to complain about recruiting if you could help support NIL and are choosing not to.

what recruiting ?

you mean buying players ?

i really haven't complained about us not really landing anyone..

its actually the opposite.. i am proud i haven't "bought" into this shakedown

if i have to walk away form this sport, so be it...

i rather not, but it wouldn't phase me either...

we really can't compete on this landscape in my opinion - hope i am wrong tho

Not even close. There are a whole bunch of reasons why it's nothing like single A basketball. But even if you want to view it that way, our options are basically either to cry about it, take our ball and go home and decide to just finish our slide in to irrelevance...or we can find a way to make it work for us and become a top tier mid-major program. Which has always been the goal for us anyway. I hope the people in charge of our program choose the second option.

I agree Jdrums, we'd all love to get a nice deep tourney run, hell I'd even take a one and done at this point.
