Not even close. There are a whole bunch of reasons why it's nothing like single A basketball. But even if you want to view it that way, our options are basically either to cry about it, take our ball and go home and decide to just finish our slide in to irrelevance...or we can find a way to make it work for us and become a top tier mid-major program. If the power programs zig then, we (non-power programs) consider zagging or a combo of zagging and zigging instead of copying them and trying to battle them dollar for dollar. Adapt and overcome.
That said, I don’t know how successful and how sustainable zagging or zig/zag strategies will be regarding obtaining NCAAT wins. The strategy could get us to the NCAAT but result in one and done whereas I would like to see NCAAT run to a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 before my window here closes.
