I saw URI has reached out to Dre Davis the transfer from Seton Hall. This is probably Duane reaching out to a pre existing relationship to see his level of interest.
The list of schools contacted him are all Power 5 besides URI.

The list Zagoria posted didn’t have URI. Is there another one?

Traore basically didn't play for two years at St. John's, under two different coaches, and he didn't really do much with what little he did play. I'm hoping we can do better, and that he's a pure back-up option or deep depth / upside play.

If we can't do better than Traore, we will be in serious trouble.

Yeah would probably only add him for a final roster spot. DG back up that would maybe be pretty good by 25-26

It's amazing that they also post when walk ons enter the portal lol
Wonder what the total for transfers are minus all the walk ons?

That's probably a bot or an aggregation account that posts somewhat automatically, judging from how it formats all of its entries. And, I think I said it in another post, but walk-ons probably have to formally transfer like any other player to avoid cute tricks with that.
Speaking of transfers, remember when we were curious if this guy was going to do anything? He averaged 7.1 PF and 3.5 TO per 40 minutes.

I used to think walk-ons picked a school more for their educational interests than for basketball since they know they're not going to play. I guess that has changed too? All 3 are transferring.

Indeed. This is strange... like the walk-ons don't like the way they were treated by staff?Billyboy78 wrote: ↑5 months ago I used to think walk-ons picked a school more for their educational interests than for basketball since they know they're not going to play. A big man target here freshman Cam Manyawu 6’9 forward from Wyoming has been in contact with the staff. Averaged 7 ppg and 6 rpg last year.

Sounds like there’s a good chance Gibson Jimmerson withdraws and plays for Schertz.

What do those numbers translate to in the A10? 4 and 5?

I mean the mountain west produced 6 teams in the tournament, and Wyoming finished with a better record than us. He’d average more here than at Wyoming.

Need some visits/commitments that’s good news for me. Something to watch out for with Cam Manyawu is the assistant that recruiting him at Wyoming is now an assistant at Drake under Ben McCollum, I don’t know if he’s considered a Drake lock but they’re going to be a heavy contender for him.

Re: Men's Basketball Transfer Carousel and Portal - 2024-25
Would hope this is sarcasm as there’s no way you truly think numbers automatically go up/down depending on the conference they were in / transfer to.
Also even if you do believe that, no clue how you think MW numbers would automatically go down in the A10 seeing how the MW is a better conference.

I stand corrected. Forgot Wyoming was in the MWC. Considering he’s a freshman too, not bad numbers. A good developing piece but we also need experience.

I hope Cunningham is a good recruiter. Everyone here is talking about Diggy Coit. Christen is the coach that's recruiting him too. Then again, does it really matter? The number one selling point is now....'Here's how much we can give you'...so does it really matter who the recruiter is?

Re: Men's Basketball Transfer Carousel and Portal - 2024-25
He made seven 3-point shots in two years, so it's really amusing to see like four of them in his scouting tape. He had 21 attempts in 42 games, so it's not like he's a Rory Stewart-style chucker from deep. The size is appealing on paper (6'8", 210), but it didn't really translate to his rebounding or block rate and he doesn't look especially explosive in those clips.

Ha, I guess I find it weirdly endearing? I don't think Stewart and the walk-ons were really A-10 quality players, but I've never gotten the vibe that any of the players Miller have brought in are bad guys or anything like that. So, I kind of like that Stewart is stumping for a walk-on that probably sat at the end of the bench with him. Ball is from Medford, so there are probably some D-II, D-III schools in New England that would be interested in rostering him.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑5 months ago Rory chimes in. I don't know. So my question is, why didn't he go to D-II or D-III in the first place if his goal was to actually play college basketball?SGreenwell wrote: ↑5 months agoHa, I guess I find it weirdly endearing? You guys realize this is just like an administrative thing right? If he wants to transfer and go somewhere else he has to enter his name in the portal.

You're asking why an 18-year-old thought he could maybe break into the lineup of a D-I program starting as a walk-on? I don't know, I think that's pretty common. Teenagers have lofty dreams!Billyboy78 wrote: ↑5 months agoSo my question is, why didn't he go to D-II or D-III in the first place if his goal was to actually play college basketball?SGreenwell wrote: ↑5 months agoHa, I guess I find it weirdly endearing?
