Is Brown definitely on the road? Including next year's game it will be 5 of the last 6 at home against Brown.

No, that's more of a placeholder based on assumptions. Things have gotten out of place due to Covid and playing them in a tournament. I'm assuming that we made an arrangement with them so we could host them and they'd be back on the off years with PC, but nothing definite other than we host them again this year

Unless I hear otherwise I'm no longer carrying the Milwaukee home and Seton Hall road games over even though they won't be played in 2023-24. There was nothing in the press release to indicate they will be played in the future

Re: 2024-25 Schedule (top post is current)
From Bill Koch just released
Actually this is for WBB.
I misinterpreted. But it is great for URI WBB
Some news here for Providence and #URI fans. The Friars and #Rams are in the same MTE with Iowa in Mexico early in the 2024-25 season.

There is a picture of Caitlin Clark in the tweet he quoted.
Think it’s pretty much self explanatory it’s the womens team he was referring to.

Re: 2024-25 Schedule (top post is current)
No. I disagree.
There is a thread announcing the Cancun Tournament in the WBB KB Section.
That was from more than 3 months ago.
When I read the tweet today I quickly thought in todays world of twitter and instant communication that it was for MBB. Why would this be new news?
No mention was the MTE was for WBB.
If you put the puzzle together you could decipher possibly that because it was a picture of Caitlin Clark it was WBB.
Love Bill Koch and how he shares info, has solid connections, reports fairly. I take the blame. He is a tremendous asset to The Projo and to the Rhode Island Sports scene. I got excited reading it. I was in Cancun for the last Tournament with Hurley vs Turgeon. I spoke too soon.
Moving on.

I asked you earlier today that on Leap Day, 1 day every 4 years that’s 365 days times 4 years = 1,660 days to be nice for 1 day
You have failed miserably.
I’ll give you tomorrow, March 1, as a possible make up day.

Koch quote tweets a picture of Caitlin Clark. He then says that URI and PC are in an MTE with Iowa, which is Caitlin Clark’s team.
You don’t believe it’s obvious Koch is talking about the women’s URI team and then you try to decipher it like its a puzzle.

Agreed - someone put up a tweet, then admitted a "my bad - I didn't see/realize - this was for the WBB team" and that should be that. Why are their countless posts blasting them for an honest mistake? Are your lives that miserable that you have to hop on the mistake so many times? Re: 2024-25 Schedule (top post is current)
Given that attendance has been falling off and money is getting increasingly tight (less ticket and adv revenues/Miller comp about to increase by 1M next year/NCAA units expiring), I am going to predict that URI will not play as many home games next year as it did this past season (17). I would think the program will seek to play more neutral site and away games if possible to contain costs. Buying home opponents does not make much sense if the ticket revenue cannot significantly justify doing so.

Ideally we get to the point where it's just a known thing that the game is the first Saturday in December and the rivalry is big enough and good enough that nothing changes that

I believe that this has generally been the case for the last 20+ years. The few exceptions in this time were mostly because of other OOC games in and the first Saturday impacting things. The only instance where that was not the case was when Ed Cooley decided to duck URI during covid not playing the game at all that season.

Re: 2024-25 Schedule (top post is current)
Will the Seton Hall return game finally be played this season? The first game in the two game home and home series was played at the Ryan Center back on December 2, 2020 with no fans in the stands due to Covid. Rhody won 76-63. URI has appeared open to the game being played but Seton Hall has had some scheduling issues and put the game off in each of the last three seasons. Is this contract still open? Will a game in NJ finally happen his year?
As was the case with the Nevada screw job with a far too low buyout clause, I hope URI learns a lesson from this which gets factored into future series contracts. Perhaps there should now be period terms limit for a series to be completed. Four to five years would seem more than reasonable for a two game series to be completed.

This is different from Nevada. Nevada we were going to get a home game against a good team, so the buyout screwed us. We haven't been good, so a road game against a Big East team isn't top of the to do list with scheduling

The Mohegan Sun HOF Tournament (which URI was in ly and multiple previous years) is dealing with more issues. PC, BC, UMass, and Temple had committed to playing in it. PC dropped out a few weeks ago when an unexpected opportunity arose to play in the Battle 4 Atlantis which had a far better field of teams. Now word is that BC is following suit and dropping out as well. Leaves just UMass and Temple with two open slots needing to be filled if it is to remain a two day event.

Re: 2024-25 Schedule (top post is current)
A post on the Holy Cross fan forum references their head coach Dave Paulsen emailing boosters that one of the OOC games the Crusaders will be playing this upcoming season is at URI.
Will be interesting to see the game details - will this be a one off guaranteed buy game, part of 2-1 (with the worcester game at the DCU Center) like the last series, or an even H&H? Would think that URI, coming off four straight losing seasons with poor NET numbers, does not have as much bargaining power these days as it did in the past. Furthermore, URI may have increasing issues funding buy games as the price keeps rising. I have seen where VCU is having to pay out some $70-80K to opponents for buy games these days.

And fwiw, URI hosts Holy Cross in Football this fall and we play AT Holy Cross next season.RF1 wrote: ↑5 months ago A post on the Holy Cross fan forum references their head coach Dave Paulsen emailing boosters that one of the OOC games the Crusaders will be playing this upcoming season is at URI.

URI is 1-9 all time in football versus Holy Cross with the Crusaders only coming to Kingston once in 1977. It was URI's lone win in the series. Holy Cross, similar to Brown and the other Ivies were once much more regarded in football and would not then lower themselves to playing at URI. These schools were however eventually dumped from D1 and positions changed with URI being in the better conference. It is hard to believe that Holy Cross once had an illustrious football and basketball history given its small size. The school presently has its largest total enrollment ever and it is still below 3,200.

Holy Cross is ranked #25 preseason in FCS.RF1 wrote: ↑5 months agoramster wrote: ↑5 months agoAnd fwiw, URI hosts Holy Cross in Football this fall and we play AT Holy Cross next season.RF1 wrote: ↑5 months ago A post on the Holy Cross fan forum references their head coach Dave Paulsen emailing boosters that one of the OOC games the Crusaders will be playing this upcoming season is at URI.

I think the fact URI are playing home-home in football also lends some credence to your story about the talk of URI playing HC in basketball. Obviously communications between the schools to schedule in football could easily steer towards basketball too - and other sports as well.

Nice to play Temple for old times sake given both teams were in the same conference for forty years. Surprising that we have not met even once in the ten plus years since they left the A-10. Neutral site for the game would be good as we typically always have a game in Philadelphia each year with league members St Joe's and LaSalle.

I wouldn't hate a "home and home" with the Temple game being played at the Palestra and our game being played at Mohegan
Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines

Why are we treating Temple like Duke or Kentucky. Home and Home is fine. No need for a “neutral site”RhowdyRam02 wrote: ↑5 months ago I wouldn't hate a "home and home" with the Temple game being played at the Palestra and our game being played at Mohegan

If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Did you read the Disano article? Archie talks about the schedule and why it’s important to play teams like Temple. If you can play them even if it’s at a neutral site you do it.rhodylaw wrote: ↑5 months agoWhy are we treating Temple like Duke or Kentucky. Home and Home is fine. Because I want to try and continue to build a relationship with Mohegan and try to build our fanbase in that direction. And the Palestra isn't a home game for them either, it's neutralrhodylaw wrote: ↑5 months agoWhy are we treating Temple like Duke or Kentucky. Home and Home is fine. Re: 2024-25 Schedule (top post is current)
Given the rising costs of buy games for D1 opponents (VCU is paying out some $70-80k to some teams) and little known so far about our schedule, I am going to predict that URI will again host a non D1 team at the Ryan Center as it did last season with Johnson & Wales (D2 buy amount is far less than D1 team). Would also not be totally surprised if the maximum allowed thirteen OOC games were not scheduled.
For reference purposes, URI officially released its full OOC schedule for the 2023-24 season on August 17th. Much of it was however previously confirmed prior. JWU was the big surprise.
