Surf, the same thought crossed my mind when I saw that post. That said, I have no idea. Personally, I think the A10 has enough teams already - even with UMass heading out the door.
Excellent hire. Curious to see how Mack does there.

FWIW: Mack was the guy I wanted if we didn't land Archie Miller. Will be interested to see how he does at Charleston.

For the complainers who think Archie isn't "connecting" with the fans enough...even though he's just a reserved guy off the court...Mack is a total dick. To everyone.
Very happy he wasn't our top target.

Winning cures all, be reserved and not into the extracurricular stuff if you’re winning and nobody will care.
No winning, no growth, no improvement AND you don’t have any interest in making connections? That’s when people get pissed, as they have with Archie.

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
Yeah, I don't think so if you account for conference and resources their schools had. Mack is probably more successful, but it's pretty damn close when you adjust for situation and you can make a solid case that Archie's done better when adjusting for situationRhody15 wrote: ↑5 months agoChris Mack a hell of a lot more successful than Archie.

He's only 45 and has gone to four NCAA tournaments in 12 years of coaching, would have made the tournament another time except for Covid, and has made two NITs. His record in the NCAA tournament is 5-4. He's unquestionably been successful

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
While Mack may be an asshole (and I also recall him in 2014 - the first year of the new big east railing against the A10 for bids. I was like, dude you were in the league until this year - take it down a notch and don't be disrespectful), I still would have been happy if AM was not our guy (note, I still have faith in Miller).

Archie definitely had success at Dayton, but obviously the last 6 years haven't gone well for him.section(105) wrote: ↑5 months ago OK. Fine. I hold to past success, for any coach, does not guarantee future success. Hoping Archie will get it done here also. Go Rhody
And of course it is "what have you done lately" that counts.
Obviously, Archie is still safe and not on the hotseat yet.
But it is important that we get some positive results starting this season.
Otherwise things in Rhody world will be extremely ugly, much worse than now.

How do people fall for these April Fools jokes? First the A10 talk account and now this.
Look at the handle, you really think that's a legit account?

Yes, exactly.

Given the day and from who, I knew the Bill Self post was fake.
That said, if I was the Kansas AD….yada, yada, yada…
I’d like to welcome Dan Hurley as the next head basketball coach of the Kansas Jayhawks.
My sincerest thanks to Coach Self. Jayhawks nation wishes him the best.

Coaching three different teams in three seasons? I'm sure we'll be getting a handful of posts complaining about how this is ruining college sports in no time...

Cooley was never on that staff directory apparently. Providence fans are really good at starting false rumors and spreading it, nothing happened with Cooley he will remain the coach without any issues.

Re: 2024 Coaching Carousel
Looking back I see the Cooley story was out on March 27, well before April 1, but it got more circulation on April 1. Pretty funny actually.
Friar fans loved Cooley until he decided to take a better job. Now they despise him.

That Simon Charles parody account ran by a Providence fan does a good job spreading misinformation and gets a bunch of people to fall for it.

I know Pepperdine is a dead end job but this is the best they could do? A re-tread who hasn't been a head coach in 20 years and was below .500 at Wright State between 1997-2003. There had to be some young plucky assistant coach eager to climb the ranks as opposed to a 58-year old re-tread.

9 NCAA tournament appearances between 1976-1994 is pretty good. Made the tournament again in 2000 and 2002, but nothing since. Feels like they've underachieved for a while considering what they used to be and their locationSTC wrote: ↑5 months ago I know Pepperdine is a dead end job but this is the best they could do?
