I think they need to play more games. Looks like there could be more doubleheaders. Also, some of those southern dates with doubleheaders, they should be able to mix in some tripleheaders. I'm sure they have lights, or just start earlier in the morning. I mean, look at April...they only play 14 days that month...that's half the month off. Play some games already, sheesh.

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island has been picked to finish in sixth place in the Atlantic 10 this spring, according to voting in the 2024 preseason conference coach's poll, which was released by the league Wednesday.

The Rams are coming off their most successful season in 21 years, winning 23 games and qualifying for the conference tournament. It marked the most wins for the program since a 25-win campaign in 2001. When Rhody defeated Fordham at the Atlantic 10 Championship, it was the first postseason victory for URI since it defeated Temple at the 2002 championship.

Dayton edged Loyola Chicago for the top spot in the poll. The Flyers received five first-place votes and has 93 points, just two points ahead of the Ramblers. Loyola Chicago – which reached the championship game of the A-10 tournament last season, received four first-place votes and had 91 points overall.

The next four teams were bunched close together. Defending league champion George Mason was third with 66 points and one first-place vote. Saint Louis (64 points), Fordham (62) and Rhode Island (60) all were within six points of the Patriots.

The 2024 season opened for Rhode Island on Friday, Feb. 16 at the Wofford Invitational. The Rams will play five games over the weekend, kicking off the team's 53-game slate.

Our home series this weekend against St. Bonaventure has been moved to New York. Even though we'll be playing at St. Bonaventure we'll be considered the home team. We'll be playing a doubleheader Sunday and a game Monday. Tuesday's doubleheader at Stonehill has been postponed pending a makeup date. We now won't have our home opener until 4/2
