I may be the high on this poll, going with lucky #11. I really do not want to see more than 2 players inbound in the portal. Why do we need to change the end of the bench as long as they work hard in practice? Are we building a culture or not? It seems strange to expect guys to play for each other when there is a threat of being pushed out of the program.

Also in regards to PG there is at least a chance that Hammond was told he would get the keys from Day 1 and that is why he chose us. I have no way of knowing that but it wouldn’t be that surprising. I also wouldn’t hate it. But it will come with significant growing pains even if he is every bit as good as advertised.

Archie said when he signed that he was one of the best recruits he's ever got a commitment from.

Every URI team that was good that I can remember had a really good PG running the show.

Just another reason why next season is so important.

Archie spoke of having continuity. Of course he's right there. Again, our best teams were made up of guys that were here 3 or 4 years.

Of course that's when teams were built from the ground up, in other words joined as freshman recruits and developed from there.

Again with the unlimited movement year to year that's the case now, it's going to be a lot harder to keep the gang together so to speak.

But it needs to happen, as difficult as it might be.

With what I posted last night from Luis IG Story repost it seems he is gone.

Looking like he will pursue professional ball overseas. He has been in college 4 years so the assumption is he would graduate in May?

1 or more of these 4 current players:
- may get a better offer which could include more playing time, more NIL or both
- may want a change of scenery with a different team in a different conference


House really improved his defense, his speed and aggressiveness the past month. Became a leader with more positivity.
Green had some injury issues and it was difficult to get back into playing condition considering the injuries. Showed good ability to score and score efficiently.

Can't really blame Luis if he is graduating and wants to go pursue a career overseas. For me, he was one that I was on the fence about. I do think he could be a positive vet presence and he always seemed to play hard out there, but I do think coming back would have to be in a reduced role a bit.

I hope we are successful in buying better players. The great bulk of the rented paid professional mercenaries we had this past year just did not get it done. They most definitely did not earn their compensation and perks and proved on the court to be a bad investment. We need better professionals.

Many are going to want out on their own for a change of scenery, better opportunity for playing time and just because they can with no penalty.

To me this feels about right - unless we get another PG and Ways hits the portal sensing his diminishing role.

That said - 5295 players in NCAA D1. Roughly 2000 or more to hit the portal, that means roughly 40% of your roster should be expected to turnover on average.
