How many kids didn’t end up on a new team last year and lost out on a free education?

This sport needs a salary cap. Just like the pros.
Of course enforcing it will be a nightmare.

Stayed all 4 years, will graduate. Probably could’ve left last year for a bigger school.
Using the freak covid year to try and make some money and join a P5 team for his last season.
Sounds like a player should meet certain criteria to not be at fault?
Let these players maximize their wealth while they can especially when there is no limit on earnings potential.
I can’t think of a situation where I’d hold a player at fault for leaving. Best of luck and go get em!
EVERYONE is bitching about the portal and kids transferring year after year after year. EVERYONE. Coaches, analysts, media people, etc.
People on this board too, obviously.
Tons of kids with zero production after 1/2 two years will enter the portal thinking they will get 6 figures only to find out they won't / nobody wants them.
Don't act stupid, although that's hard for you.

Currently yes, that is where we are at.rambone 78 wrote: ↑2 months ago We are closer to the bottom of the pecking order not only money wise, but who wants to come to a bottom a10 program that is miles away from being good?
Some might not like my description of URI as a bottom a10 program, but results wise we are and that's what counts in my book.
Relationships with the coaches will also play a role along with their fit, playing time, facilities, environment, and location.
Not sure how much academics means these days.
Hopefully it is not 100% just about the $.

These are college kids, not professionals. Different standards apply.
I’d also that if they think they can hop around this much as a professional in basketball or elsewhere without any pride commitment or loyalty, what kind of lesson is that?

Sorry but they are today far more like paid professionals than they are student athletes. The main attachment to a college these days is just the name on the uniform they wear that season.

It's an epidemic that is hitting everyone. No one, even at the P5 level, likes the unlimited movement, having to re-recruit kids every year, having to recruit the portal for the next 6 weeks when they usually could take some time to de-compress post season, etc. It's all unsustainable no matter the level.

But the feeling of gloom and doom isn't as prevalent at programs that are healthy right now.
I'm also wondering if some of it tapers down a little after the covid years are finally gone.

Hopefully whatever happens will give us a fair chance to compete for the top of the league we are in

Are we ending our series with PC?
Did the Ryan Center get demolished over night?
Someone has to win the A10.
We will be able to put together a schedule that can get us an at large if we win games against good teams.
The MWC got multiple at large bids.

Minimal NIL, including FAU with zero.
16 FDU over 1 Purdue with NPOY.
15 Princeton into the Sweet 16.
13 Furman over Virginia.
You’re being way over dramatic here.

Going deep into the tourney is another story.
The effects of unlimited movement plus the pay to play aspect hasn't fully kicked in yet, but it's about to.

This is the kind of player that we might have a shot of landing, looks like we are competing with a lot of our peers.
Dont want to see us involved with lower level programs for a player very much anymore.

Yes, he looks good. But he's playing next to superstars. He's getting single coverage the entire time. He's open often because the opponents focus on the guys around him. I think Hammond is a great point guard, but I need to see him be the top dog where defenses focus on him before I know he can be a game-changer. Hopefully, we can see that at Rhody. With our luck, he probably won't come, and we start Ways next year.. That's my hell.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑2 months agoThat's my biggest fear. We're going to lose a potential program changing PG.

I don’t think there are program changers at any level anymore. If a guy is successful, he’s probably being tampered with and will end up transferring up after a year. Well 78, the players we had this year couldn't learn it.
Lack of effort and ability combined.
Maybe if the new players are talented enough, they could play it better?
If not I doubt Archie will change, that's a problem.

Going after better talent that already has had good D1 mid major experience.
That's the way to go.
The NIL fund must be getting big enough to go after these types of players.
Now for the hard part.
Signing them!
