Did we pass on an invite? Or no invite at all?

Richmond got the NCAA Bid and is seeded 10th vs 7-seed Duke

No At Large for A10 WBB as expected

Duquesne and St Louis got the 2 WNIT slots in the reduced field from 64 in the past down to 48

Looks like some A10 teams may have declined looking at WBB NET

St Louis and Duquesne did both advance to the A10 Semi Finals along with URI and Richmond with Richmond beating URI in the Championship Game so maybe that was what led to SLU and Duquesne being selected and URI declined?
It would be nice to know who declined

This is the inaugural season for the WBIT which is controlled by the NCAA.
It is now the 2nd tier post-season tournament below the NCAAT.
VCU and St. Joe's both got bids.

As did George Mason go to the WBIT with VCU and St Joseph’s

But to Section 105’s question, did URI receive a bid to the WNIT? And then turn down the bid down to the WNIT?

My guess is they did since URI is also not in the WBIT

Yes, I meant to include them.

Not sure, you would think they would have gotten a bid ahead of SLU.

URI went to the Championship Game of the A10 Tournament

The highlighted teams are going to WNCAA, ANIT or WBIT

Davidson cancelled their season due to injuries (5 girls suffered ACL injuries). So that leaves URI who went to the Championship Game in A10 Tournament.

Looks like URI would have received a bid to the WNIT or to the WBIT. Likely turned down an Invite??

Good question for Tammi
And the local media
If no invite at all to WNCAA, WNIT or to WBIT then that itself is a good question.

If an invite was received and then turned down then what was the reason for turning down?

If they(coaches and player)considered the season a disappointment, they may have decided to just shut it down?

I’d say that is a controversial move…are we that big time now? Yes, it was a disappointing season, but what lesson are you teaching when things don’t go your way? Make lemonade out of lemons…win the stupid tournament! But, not my call…

I'm guessing it was a money thing, and you probably had to put up some sort of money to enter the tournament. Is my guess, and the university was like, yeah, no.

That, coupled with the idea that if it's not the NCAA or whatever the next one is, in this case the NBIT, then that is it. They aren't even going to bother acknowledging other tournaments and honestly, why bother? It's the correct move.

And yes, very disappointing season, no doubt. But this guard recruit they got coming in looks blue chip, and so long as they have Tammi going forward, they have a chance to rebuild and make noise any given year.

The WNIT has sub-.500 teams in it. And you have to guarantee a certain amount of tickets sold or you buy them. “No”is the appropriate answer.

Minnesota wins at Troy and St Louis wins at Vermont. Both games were close and well played.

Both Troy and Vermont had their on campus arenas full and fans were loud. Vermont announcer said he had never heard it so loud.

Location of Championship Game TBA Thursday afternoon. Game is scheduled for Saturday

Women's basketball has arrived. Of note: less transfers. Less "portaling". More four year players leading to more experienced teams. Emphasis on "teams". Perhaps a recipe for success? The men's game should give it a try!
