One weird note on the schedule. We list an April 10th game at Holy Cross, but Holy Cross' schedule has them at Yale that day. Yale has not released their schedule yet

Yale announced their schedule and they say they're playing Holy Cross April 10th

https://yalebulldogs.com/news/2023/12/1 ... edule.aspx

So unless Holy Cross is following 208's suggestion of a split squad than I have no idea where we thought we'd be playing at Holy Cross and we'll be looking for another game

Trip to Blacksburg was a tough one as the Rams drop all 3 to Virginia Tech by a combined score of 39-7. Rhody falls to 1-5 overall.

Up next is 5-2 Washington State. They play undefeated and #5 ranked TCU tomorrow before welcoming the Rams for 4 games starting this Friday.

Texas A&M will be another tough 3 games for Rhody as they have started 7-0 and are ranked 7th in the week 2 poll.

No real surprises out of the A10 so far. Saint Louis has started 7-0 as well but have played an easy schedule so far.

Only two A10 teams in the top 100 in RPI, SLU at 9-1 and UMass who is only 2-4 but had a nice win over previously undefeated #13 Virginia yesterday.

Rhody has one more today vs Wash St after dropping the first two. Pitching seems to be a big issue again this year, Rams are allowing 12.1 runs per game, and only scoring 3.3.

Brutal loss in the 3rd game vs Texas A&M today in extra innings. Rhody put up 11 runs including 8 in the 7th inning after being shut out in the first two games, only to give up 12 in 10 innings to the Aggies. Would’ve been a huge upset against the #4 team in the country.

In order to have a successful season, you then have to do very well versus the other northern schools, especially in your home games. Losing two out of three to Northeastern will not help.

3-11 record thus far - outscored 156-63

Yep.

UConn next at home tomorrow - coming in with a 7-10 record but they have faced a very tough schedule. Stonehill on Wednesday before the first conference series vs the Bonnies.

Michael Anderson’s Historic Day

Sophomore Michael Anderson's 12 runs batted in were the most by any Division I player in the country this season, topping the 10-RBI game by Creighton's Ben North.

The previous record for URI was nine RBI in a game by Calvin McCall against Holy Cross on April 14, 2022.

Anderson's five hits tied the Rhode Island single-game record. It is the 19th time it has happened, with Addison Kopack being the most recent against St. Bonaventure on April 8, 2022.

All five of his hits were for extra bases, as Anderson had two home runs, two doubles and one triple. He also scored three runs.
Anderson has 10 extra-base hits over his last seven games.

Anderson Slugs His Way to Atlantic 10 Weekly Honors

KINGSTON, R.I. - Following a historic performance against Stonehill, Rhode Island Baseball's Michael Anderson was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

This is the first such award for the Rams in 2024 and the fourth career selection overall for Anderson, who was a three-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week a year ago.

Anderson made his mark in a weather-shortened week for URI, batting .667 between the midweek games against UConn (March 19) and Stonehill (March 20). His numbers were significantly boosted by a staggering performance opposite the Skyhawks in which he drove in a program-record 12 runs to lead Rhody to a 19-15 victory.

The returning Freshman All-American had two home runs – a three-run shot and a grand slam – to go with a two-run triple, two-run double and an RBI double. The 12 RBI was the most by a player in NCAA Division I this season, topping the 10-RBI game by Creighton's Ben North.

Anderson's five hits tied the Rhode Island single-game record. It was the 19th time it has happened, with Addison Kopack being the most recent against St. Bonaventure on April 8, 2022.

The Havertown, Pa. native has 10 extra-base hits over his last seven games.

Tough start to conference play with SLU taking all 3 at home. Rhody lost on a walk off game 1 3-2. Only managed to score 6 runs across the 3 games.

BC is next on Wednesday at home with a nasty weather forecast, followed by 3 vs. UMass, also at the Beck.

Edit: BC game cancelled as expected.

It's still early, only a quarter a way through the conference schedule, but with only the top 7 making the conference tournament it would still be nice to get two of three this weekend with St. Joe's ahead of us in the standings.

RPI through yesterday's games:

82 VCU
115 St. Louis (0-3 there)
121 Dayton (there 5/16-5/18)
137 Rhode Island
178 Fordham (here 4/26-4/28)
197 George Washington (there 4/19-4/21)
202 St. Joe's (here 4/12-4/14)
206 UMass (2-1 here)
219 St. Bonaventure (home series cancelled)
221 George Mason
241 Davidson (there 5/3-5/5)
267 Richmond (here 5/10-5/12)

We're currently in a tie with George Washington, George Mason, and St. Joseph's for the 6th through 9th spots in the standings, with the top 7 making the tournament.

We just went 2-1 against St. Joe's and have a three game set against George Washington this weekend. Anther big series coming up, this could be the most important 10 day stretch of the season with how the standings are looking so far

Rhody gets up 6-0 vs Bryant today but ends up falling 13-9 to move to 0-2 vs. the Bulldogs for the season. Bryant is having a nice season, 13-2 in American East play and 26-12 overall.

Stonehill tomorrow to close out the nonconference season, with an important series at home vs Fordham this weekend. URI has won 8 of 12 at home for the year but only 4 of 22 on the road, so need to take advantage of the Beck and try to move up the A10 standings.

Won the series, now sit at 9th place in the conference.

If they don't make the A-10's it'll only be the third time since 2004 that they've missed! I feel like Rhody Baseball should get more praise for that. Most consistent of the major men's varsity sports.

Sucks that out of the 17 trips in the last 20 years, they've only won the tournament 2 times...

I guess you could say it would be a very terrible season by our standards if we don't finish in the top 7.

4. George Washington - 12-9 - at St. Joe's
5. Richmond - 12-9 - vs 3rd place VCU
6. St. Joe's - 11-10 - vs George Washington
7. UMass - 11-10 - vs 1st place St. Louis

8. Fordham - 10-11 - at last place St. Bonaventure
9. Rhode Island - 9-12 - at 2nd place Dayton
10. Davidson - 8-13 - at 2nd to last George Mason

Technically we have a shot, but we have to win at least two out of three against Dayton, but probably have to sweep the series, and we need help
