man, what a freeking gutpunch at St Bona... I know that some of Rhody's really good teams in history have had clusterdumps like this, but this team had not yet established complete gnarlyness, so such a nutkicking just seems (probably) more painful than need be

Yeah, especially down there.
They do have a lot of talent and Ryan Odom is a solid HC.

St Louis hit only 4-20 3P's = 20%
Joe Bamisile hot 7-10 3P's = 70% coming off the bench for VCU. Overall 10-13 FG for 29 points in just 23 minutes of play. Tough to overcome a guy hitting 7-10 3P's

VCU having Bam eligible now certainly gave them a big lift.

Yes 77, but 3 of the games are very close, all 1.5 point spreads. Loyola at Fordham is an interesting game. Fordham could win it and Fordham won AT St Bonaventure the game just before our massacre...............but if Loyola wins that would put them at 5-1 with their next 3 games @ VCU Tuesday, then 2 games at home vs St Louis and Davidson.

St Bonaventure at GMU today is intriguing.

Things could be worse for Rhody fans. Look at Duquesne. Many pegged them to have a good season. They lost at St Joe's today to fall to 0-5 in league play

I wonder if their fans are discussing throwing poor performing programs out of the A-10. There are some teams that have never been good while the Ramblers have been in the A-10.

That game was yesterday, you must be watching a a replay.

Also, Kentucky is one of the best teams in America and was playing at home.

That wasn’t really a shocking or crazy result.

Giving up 96 points with over 7 minutes left in the game between 2 good teams is crazy to me. How often does that happen between a 13-4 team and a ranked team - rarely I would guess.

If you don’t think it’s crazy, that’s fine. I think it’s crazy.

They've been clutch, but not great and kinda lucky. Same with Richmond.

Both have been very fortunate thus far. I feel pretty certain they'll come back down to earth. Duquesne is a few bounces away from having a similar record. They blew it against Richmond the other day.

Aside from Dayton, the rest of the league will be completely unpredictable. There isn't a big difference between 2-15.

The Dukes are 0-5 but probably not as bad as their record.
They lost their last 2 games (Richmond and the Joes) by only 2 points each.
Also they have been without their best player and leading scorer Grant and 2 forwards Savrasov and H. Drame.

Actually if you look at all the D1 scores on both days we got blown out, there are only a few scores with greater matgins, notably PC's thrashing of DePaul 100-62.

Did you just say a team that is 0-5 in conference is not as bad as their record? Like what other measure in sports tells us how good a team is besides wins and losses? Sheesh.

Try reading the whole post.
I think they will be a better team once Grant returns, plus some of their loses have been very close especially to 2nd place Richmond.
Just my opinion, Sheesh.

Okay and we are also the exact same team that a week ago looked like the clear cut second best team in the league lol so your point is what exactly?

So we have looked like a top 2ish team and the worst team in the league all within two weeks. Are we not going to win again? Just gonna get blown out the rest of the year? Your point is dumb. No other team has been as insanely bi polar as we have, but the rest of the league has looked evenly matched, verrrry average and very up and down. Odds are we don't completely collapse the rest of the year and we win some more games. Impossible to tell from this team. Just like it's impossible to predict the rest of the A-10 aside from Dayton, which is the point I'm making.

Richmond and Loyola are fortunate to be 5-0 and 4-1. Richmond needed Duquesne to choke in the last minute to win the other night after Duquesne led the entire game. Loyola is the same way. Needing comebacks and barely beating anybody. Everyone can compete and beat everybody. Except Dayton...

The Dukes are 0-5 but probably not as bad as their record.
They lost their last 2 games (Richmond and the Joes) by only 2 points each.
Also they have been without their best player and leading scorer Grant and 2 forwards Savrasov and H. Drame.
Did you just say a team that is 0-5 in conference is not as bad as their record? Like what other measure in sports tells us how good a team is besides wins and losses? Sheesh.
Ever heard of context? It's not hard. UMass killed them, but they only lost to Dayton by 10, lost to St Joe's and Richmond by two (blew it against 5-0 Richmond) lost to Loyola by 5. They could very easily be 3-2. What you said would make sense if they had gotten blown out all 5 games, but it's far from it. So huh yeah, they aren't as bad as their record. Also have guys out. Kinda like SLU getting Parker back. SLU isn't a good team but they're talented enough to be competitive with Dayton.

RF1,

Consider the A10 is a 1-Bid Conference. All of the strategy now should be for each HC to get their team as prepared as possible for the A10 Tournament in March. The Automatic Qualifier has to be the goal for each team with the exception possibly of Dayton who could lose and still get a bid. But for everyone else it's A10 Conference Championship or BUST.

So even a 0-5 start for Duquesne is not the dire situation you paint it to be.

At 0-5 Duquesne is still NET 100 as compared to 3-2 URI NET 199.

3 of the 5 losses were AWAY at UMASS, Loyola, St Joe
The home losses were to red hot Dayton and Richmond

So the A10 is a one bid conference with 15 teams. Why would any school want to play through 15 teams for an AQ? It only takes 8 teams to make a D1 conference eligible for AQ. Seems it would be better to be in an 8 team conference.

Bonnies put up 50 total pts for the game. They put up 51 in the first half against us last week. Gotta love seeing that.
